and almost criminally insufficient. ali, that was in november. >> this is a problem that we have to talk about. more countries are getting involved in this. canada has not only stopped the operations of this plane, they said like the u.k. has, not even in our air space. it's interesting, because air canada and west jet fly these planes and they are co-chairs with american plane. they are increasing number of americans not on these planes, a number of companies saying they don't want their staff on them. joining us now msnbc's tom costello, international president of the transport union, tom samuelson. tom, give us the latest. >> you gave the headline out of canada. that's a big one. it means the united states is the last country to allow the max to fly. and canada, by the way, barning both the max 8 and max 9. when you say they can't fly over canadian air space, literally think about that. if you're going from boston potentially to denver, sometimes you might fly over canadian air space. you can't do that in a max.
