to denuclearization. and instead of you seeing denuclearization or the standing point, they were willing to actually think about it in a parallel way, not only keeping the pressure up on denuclearization but also trying to cool tensions and improve the relationship at the same time. so the u.s. was already getting to get a little little more lenient heading into hanoi. and that's why a lot of outside watchers were expecting a at least some sort of stated principles coming out of this summit. so even if they weren't able to secure something tangible, that an inventory wasn't agreed upon or something that north korea was able to agree to -- and so even if they were going to fall short of something tangible at least there would be something general, some statement of principles like we saw in the santosa agreement which came out of singapore. but we're falling short of even that, which is okay if you're looking in the very long view. if you're expecting north korea
