house and that a president has the authority and the staff to deny someone a press pass just as they do to decide who gets to ask questions in a news conference or who gets interviews with the president, and they said cnn's case was weaker here. they can't claim he's shutting cnn down when cnn has 50 hard passes to the white house, but the initial round here is certainly a victory. acosta goes back to work. it puts cnn in a much more favorable legal position as this case goes on, if it's going to go on. >> jeff, what are we hearing, if anything from the white house? any reaction yet? >> reporter: the white house hasn't put out a statement just yet. we understand that one is coming, however. but to pete's point, we know how round one of this case has gone, round two, of course, is to this larger issue as to the constitutionality of the revocation of jim acosta's press pass. that has all sorts of implications about whether this white house or any other white house can retaliate against reporters they might not happen
