racing of the debt ceiling and a three month continuation resolution to continue to fund the government. republicans wanted those second two items to go on much longer, ideally past the midterms. but the president ended upsiding with democrats. and when you listen to mitch mcconnell talk about this earlier today, it's pretty clear how he describes who the real parties were in this deal. just take a listen. >> well, good afternoon, everyone. as i think you now know in a meeting down at the white house the president and the senate and house democratic leadership agreed to a three-month continuing resolution and a debt ceiling in to december. i will be adding that as an amendment to the flood relief bill that's come over from the house on the floor, and i'll be supporting it. >> so i will be supporting it.
