dead. dive teams will start the process of recovering the plane tonight. courtney is at the pentagon for us. courtney, walk us through the latest of what happened on the ground there. the military is calling this a mishap. do we know anything else? >> the marine corps calls these mishaps when, in fact, it is a crash. this osprey which, of course, it flies like, it lands and takes off like a helicopter but flies like a plane. it was landing, it was on final approach to the "uss green bay" right off the coast of australia early saturday morning when it hit the deck and went into the water along with 26 marines who were onboard. the u.s. navy immediately dispatched several inflatable boats. inflatable boats off of one of the neighboring ships. and several helicopters, seahawk helicopters. within the first hour, 23 of those marines had been rescued. one with a nonlife threatening injury. the other three remaining marines, they continue to be missing.
