in the united states officially came to an end. what you see here before you are people who seem pretty psyched to have a legal drink to celebrate the fact. prohibition was a long time in the making and a long time in the unmaking. and both the path to prohibition and the path out of prohibition were pioneered in the states. states began prohibiting alcohol before the federal government passed the constitutional amendment to do so. and once prohibition was the law of the land, through that constitutional amendment, it was actually states that first began breaking that consensus by basically, in opposition to the federal government, essentially legalizing alcohol. there is a similar movement happening now, happening tomorrow, actually. and 50 years from now or 80 years from now, we may look back on december 6th, 2012, on tomorrow, as an equally epoch ral moment, as the end of prohibition 2.0. tomorrow washington state will begin the process of implementing the most liberal
