those agencies, the commerce department's core business and trade functions, the small business administration, the office of u.s. trade representative, the export-import bank, the overseas private investment corporation and the trade and development agency. the goal, the big goal, would be one agency, one agency designed to help businesses thrive. the administration estimates as a result, 1,000 to 2,000 jobs would be cut, but that would be through attrition. there would be a savings of $3 billion over the course of ten years by eliminating due ining overhead costs. joining me now, richard wolffe and wendy schiller. thanks to both of you for being here. i want to give you the heads up if the president does come out, we're going to jump out of our conversation and get to him right away. so, wendy, let me start with you. senior administration officials say this idea is not just to make the government small, but better, better by saving time, eliminating bureaucratic nightmares. in your estimation, can it work?
