these winds are pretty much right now coming out of the east at this point. so this is going to really whip up these wind-whipped waves along the coastline. and that's going to really increase the surge here for southern, central, and also northern new jersey here as we head throughout the next several hours with those winds right now 30 to 40 miles per hour. so the surge along the jersey coastline is going to be continually getting a little bit worse here where we could see that surge anywhere from about six to about eight feet. also, tornado watch still here for areas in new york city. also likely extended into new haven, connecticut. and most likely as well right into massachusetts as we continue to follow a lot of rotation on that northeastern quadrant. now, as we look at this storm surge, we have been focusing and keying in a lot on new jersey, long island and new york city. also into connecticut because of this densely populated area where tens of millions of people are. and of course we had those evacuations in place. it's just too hard to pinpoint
