on intelligence reporting for quite sometime but certainly those of us who have been in government for many year before this were worried about the fact that the political repression in egypt was creating no alternative to save the muslim brother hood. and in fact one of our talking points with president mubarak had all been that he was creating the danger of instability. if there was failure it was probably less on the side of intelligence and more on the side of were we strongly enough pushing president mubarak on political reform over the last few years or were we more focused on other issues in the region? >> how much of the responsibility of political repressi repression, torture, unemployment, deprivation in egypt lies at the u.s. having been mubarak's bankroll for all
