joining us now former astronaut tom hendricks, current president of aviation week he commanded two space shuttle missions and piloted two more. thank you very much for joining us. this has become a very public family feud between astronauts with buzz aldren flying down there with the president and supporting his plan for private companies to ferry astronauts to the space station and neil armstrong and others opposing going commercial. where do you come down on this and how do you think the president should try to thread this needle? >> well, i respect all the apollo astronauts and i'm not about to get into a debate with people of that caliber and knowledge. my personal view is that there is room in both camps, room for government expertise and exploration and opportunity for commercial opportunity and exploration and that should include getting more humans into space. remember, it's been almost 50 years since we began exploring
