to be a hypocrite. you can actually have someone within our system of laws and elicit information without becoming the thing we're fighting against. >> to this related issue, this policy that blair mentioned yesterday allowing the targeted killing of americans outside the country, no one would look at a known terrorist like al alawki and have sim ympathy there. but is the fact that this is on the books troubling from a legal point of view? >> what's troubling is it's not on the books. the problem is that this is something that president bush developed. we actually saw the bush administration kill an american citizen in 2002 with the predator strike and we knew that he was a u.s. citizen. we knew he was in the car because we were monitoring his phone. and took him out. and the obama administration once again seems to be morphing into the bush administration and adopting the same principle.
