>> reporter: in buffalo, this ambulance transporting a woman in labor was stuck in the snow. ems workers had to carry her six blocks to the hospital just in time for her to give birth. the brutal storm leaving others stranded on streets and highways through the night. these guys in oregon were trapped in their suv when their gps got them lost in the storm. >> we basically hunkered down and went to sleep because we figured sleep would be the best thing for us instead of being panicky. >> reporter: snow covering more than half of the country causing power outages, closing schools, and causing so many to put their shovels to use. >> it's horrible. just back breaking. >> reporter: so much earlier than they'd hoped. and even in places where it isn't snowing, it is extremely cold. people from florida up through new england have had to deal with record low temperatures. t.j. and reena? >> marci, thank you. and the great lakes region days away from any relief from this latest round of snow.
