>> massive protests getting more violent as opponents of mohamed morsi clash with supporters. so far at least 23 people have been killed, 200 wounded. morsi is not backing down. abc's alex marquardt is in cairo. >> reporter: in cairo's tahrir square, the tension is rising. the seconds tick down toward a deadline the military threatening to intervene if president morsi doesn't meet the people's demand. morsi admitted he made mistakes and said he was elected fairly and will not step down. we met norhan tahan, it was her group of young egyptians, called rebellion that launched these protests and brought egypt once again to the brink of revolution. >> translator: in the new cons -- constitution there is no role for women. in the morsi era, women have no place. the anger is driven by fear the muslim brotherhood wants to control egypt as well as that decimated economy. look at egypt's famous pyramids filled with american tourists before the revolution.
