>> reporter: good morning, rob and tanya. pentagon officials say gadhafi is still likely somemewhere inside libya but exactly where he is inside that spacious country nobody knows. president obama declared gadhafi's 42-year reign an end. >> the situation is still very fluid. there remains a degree of uncertainty. and there are still regime elements who pose a threat. but this much is clear. the gadhafi regime is coming to an end. >> reporter: the fighting is still not over. it is fierce in some parts of the city. and the president gave gadhafi one last chance to lay down hihis arms, in the president's words, for the sake of libya. >> although it's clear that gadhafi's rule is over, he still has the opportunity to reduce further bloodshed by explicitly relinquishing power to the people of libya. >> reporter: the signs, however, that things are coming to an end are strong. state television has gone dark. and the presidential guard has reportedly switched sides.
