how important is it for democrats to contain that senate advance? that in other words, if we're left with the same senate that we had last session, it would confirm the republican still in control, but not as much in control, right? >> that's true. i think the democrats, however, can be pretty excited about what happened last tuesday, regardless of whether or not republicans gained a seat or even two seats. the biggest reason that we care about it, the ability of republican party to confirm judge judges if they have expanded senate, that is the thing the democrats need to be most worried about, the senate advantage. that said, one of the few dark spots of otherwise amazing night.
