have congress pass a short-term extension of, essentially, spending cuts and some tax revenue as well to try to avoid those deep cuts to defense and domestic spending. they were initially set to start january 1st, they were bumping back to march 1st. well, march 1st will beer here before you know it. house speaker john boehner notes the house has passed more common sense cuts that have not gone anywhere, and he says he does not want a plan that will just be more tax hikes. speaker boehner issued a statement saying, quote: the president's sequester should be replaced with spending cuts and reforms that will start us on the path to balancing the budget in ten years. that is called trying to get ahead of the president. jenna? jenna: that is what that is, isn't it, mike? now, march 1st will be here before we know it, as you mentioned, but valentine's day is next week, right? we can't forget that. >> reporter: absolutely right. jenna: and i like your wife -- >> reporter: i'll call your husband.
