earthquake could be 6.5. they built it to withstand a 7 magnitude earthquake. if it caused a nam they believe the biggest tsunami would be 25 feet. the tsunami wall in front of the power plant is at 30 feet. the key with japan though is what happened when all that water flowed in there they just absolutely could not get electricity turned back up. they couldn't get the electricity turned onto the plant so they could cool those reactors. the sound byte you just heard was one of the authorities, a nuclear lead at this place that says there are so many redundant sees here at san onofre that if for some reason there was a catastrophic earthquake followed by a tsunami above 30 feet and water did flow in there that they have diesel power that they could back up those generators with. beyond that there is battery power e even a gravity system if everything was shot a gravity system that would keep the power turned on so they could cool those reactors.
