megyn: a long way to tipperarri. today the nation gives one final salute to the last surviving world war i veteran. frank buckles passing away at the age of 110. steve centanni is live in washington with more. >> reporter: he died early sunday in charlestown, west virginia at the age of 110. in april of 1917 he lied about his age to get into world war i. he was on 16 1/2 but he said he was 18. he said a boy that age is not afraid of anything. he served overseas as a combat clerk and never saw live action. later he was captured by the japanese in 1941. he spent three years in prison cam. he said i was never looking for adventure. it just came to me.
