newsroom. hello, james. >> shep, good evening. this controversy over npr and juan williams originated with an earlier controversy. namely bill o'reilly's own remarks a week ago on the abc daytime talk show "the view" where in, as you will recall, o'reilly said that muslims killed us on 9/11 and two of "the view's" hosts stomped off the set in protest. this past monday night as on so many nights passed o'reilly asked for juan williams' perspective on the subject at hand and got it? >> i mean, look, bill, i'm not a bigot. you know the kind of books have written about the civil rights movement in this country but when i get on a plane, i have got to tell you, if i see people who are in muslim garb and i think they are identifying themselves first and foremost as muslims, i get worried. i get nervous. >> that wasn't all williams said. as npr's own reporter on the story noted williams, quote, warned o'reilly not to judge all muslims or all people of any given faith by the extremists among them. >> bill: it makes them easier for them to come up with this
