afghanistan at a transfer of power ceremony this independence day. joining us live from kabul is conor powell. tell us what's happening here there at this hour, conor. >> well, alisyn, general petraeus now commands some 150,000 u.s. and international troops here in afghanistan. and he took command during a fairly subdued change of command ceremony reflecting sort of the turmoil and chaos over the past couple weeks here at the nato command. now general petraeus paid respect and honor and praised his former commander here general stanley mcchrystal saying that he will continue to do the work that general stanley mcchrystal started. he also reiterated that the strategy in place here, protecting afghan civilians will continue. >> we must demonstrate to the people and taliban that afghan and isap forces are here to safeguard the afghan people and that we are in this to win. that is our clear objective.
