republicans voted against it. 35 in the house voted for it. republicans have not, in the senate, have not voted obviously. and democrats. it appears to be died on arrival there. house republicans defied kevin mccarthy, helping democrats easily win passage in the chamber. i mentioned the 16 house republicans who co-sponsored the bill turned and then voted no. and this opposition from mccarthy and mcconnell seem to come at the last minute. what do you believe is behind that? >> well, i can -- i can't look into their hearts and minds, but what i know is what i know because i was there. and i sat on the senate floor, and i listened to several of my colleagues talk about how horrible the events of january 6th were. and to hear them now just backing away as if they just don't want to deal with it, you cannot sweep this under the rug. in order to make sure that something like this never happens again, we have to get to the bottom of it. you know, we have learned in our
