usual. you may not have agreed with people in the obama white house or people in the bush white house, but everybody who was in senior positions had spent a lifetime working in the government, thinking about the world, maybe working in private business, but they were engaged with the world. they weren't running small -- i guess they're big real estate empires in one city. and i think that that inexperience shows, because if you knew more about the world, if you knew more about how the government worked and how, you know, diplomatic relations worked, you wouldn't have stumbled into meetings with russian bankers and -- >> fareed, i think matthew makeses an interesting point. not only is there no political experience here, but these people who were working for their father's company. this is someone who inherited the position, and i assume he's very competent and continued doing fine, but it's not as though he created his own company on his own. >> and you know, the point that matthew is making, i think, is very important to think about the three countries in the way that we've been talking about recently. russia, china, saudi arabia.
