now. it has been a bloody two days for nato forces in afghanistan. three were killed today, including one american and one british soldier in the eastern and southern parts of the country. two more nato troops, including one american were killed in an improvised bomb attack friday. more than 100 coalition troops were killed in june, 60 of them americans. and u.s. secretary of state hillary clinton is heading to afghanistan today for an international conference on the war. the meeting, which includes some 70 other nations begins on tuesday. after her stay in kabul, clinton is scheduled to visit south korea and vietnam. alarmed by a rising tide of violence along the u.s.-mexico border, california governor arnold schwarzenegger is ordering the deployment of national guard troops. president obama requested the help to beef up the border security. last month, the president proposed sending some 1,200 troops to america's southwest border. some 224 of them are expected to be in california.
