On Tuesday, March 15th, at 6:00 p.m. central, the LaSalle Public Library will virtually host Author and Historian, Cynthia Clampitt, when she presents, “Destination: Heartland History.”

The history of the Midwest is remarkable and often surprising, fortunately, people realized early on that it was worth preserving. In this virtual program, Clampitt will talk about the destinations and events across the Greater Midwest that reveal how a region famed for supplying food, actually supplied so much more, including iconic images, legendary individuals, and inventions that would change the world.

Cynthia Clampitt has pursued her love of culture, history, and food in thirty-seven countries on six continents (so far) but has in recent years increasingly focused on the American Midwest. She has been writing and talking about food history for more than twenty years and have authored two books of food history. In addition, she has written textbooks for every major educational publisher in the U.S., including the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and National Geographic Learning. Cynthia is a member of the Culinary Historians of Chicago, the Society of Women Geographers, the Agricultural History Society, and the Midwestern History Association.

This program is free and open to all.
