Policlinico Umberto I, Rome
A goodwill gesture from Mission Italy to the staff of Policlinico Umberto I, one of the primary hospitals for treating COVID patients in Rome. The U.S. Embassy arranged to have 200 box lunches brought to essential health workers to thank them for their dedication and commitment in the fight against COVID-19.
Deputy Chief of Mission Thomas Smitham met with Chief Medical Officer, Alberto Deales, and other hospital representatives. “As the first European country struck by the pandemic, Italy has been at the forefront of the global response to this crisis.
The men and women working in hospitals and clinics throughout the country have shown us the meaning of courage and professionalism,” said DCM Smitham.
