LEGAZPI CITY- A total of 182 Department of Education staff in Bicol (DepEd-5) or 100 percent of its employees have been fully vaccinated, including with boosters shots, against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). In a social media post on Wednesday, the regional office said the achievement is a result of their enthusiastic campaign about the importance of the Covid-19 vaccination. Moreover, a total of 69,706, or 93 percent of eligible DepEd-5 employees have received the vaccine from their respective local government units (LGU). The number includes all teaching and non-teaching personnel in the entire region. The agency's regional office has been continuously exerting effort to reach 100 percent coverage for its entire staff, especially since expanded face-to-face (F2F) classes are now being implemented. Meanwhile, DepEd-5 announced that a total number of 65,405 students availed of early registration for the school year 2022 to 2023. The data was gathered from 1,485 schools in the region that participated in the early registration. The regional office commended the Schools Division Offices (SDOs) of Iriga City and Legazpi City for achieving a 100-percent participation rate in the early list-up. The department encourages all the other schools in the region to conduct early registration activities. In a related development, the Department of Health-Bicol (DOH-5) announced on Wednesday that it is changing the format of reporting Covid-19 cases from daily to weekly. "Starting April 11, 2022, DOH Bicol Center for Health Development (CHD) will be adapting the format of the Weekly Covid-19 Bulletin of the DOH Central Office," its advisory said. The transition, the agency said, aims to boost the confidence of the public with regard to the Covid-19 situation under the new normal as well as to give focus to equally important health programs of the DOH.
