The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is promoting the cultivation of green chiretta -- a traditional herb which can aid the recovery of Covid-19 patients -- to farmers throughout the country.
Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister, Mananya Thaiset, said the Department of Agriculture and Cooperative Promotion Department will promote green chiretta to agricultural cooperatives around the country. This comes after recent research which showed the plant contains high quantities of andrographolides, which has been proven to aid recovery from Covid-19.
The project, which will run from August to December, will see around 100 rai of land controlled by five agricultural cooperatives planted with green chiretta supplied by the Department of Thai Traditional and Complementary Medicine (DTAM). Next year, the project will be expanded across 400 rai of land owned by 20 cooperatives, she said.
