Last week, the Cape Cod Times reported owners of seasonal condos will not have access to the town’s resident only beach parking lots. An opinion authored by an attorney working for the town stated : “The town can reasonably conclude that residents still bear a greater burden in funding the town’s beaches and parking services.” The attorney also opined that “residents contribute to the town in other ways, such as voting at town meeting and at other elections, by volunteering in the community and by supporting the local economy throughout the year.”
This ruling will not affect me or my family, who have been non-resident taxpayers for almost 30 years (We first rented when Ocean vista was one house and Joe Mac’s had a grocery store, back in the 1960s). We are fortunate to be able to walk to Bayview and Mayflower beaches. It is often impossible to get a comfortable spot at the beach because of the overcrowding due to the excess in drop-offs. Uber drivers and taxi drivers are doing well transporting these drop-offs to the beach. Well that is my bit about the lack of any control of the number of people overcrowding a once top beach on the Cape.
