Stansbury prevailed in an open, four-way race to fill the vacant seat previously held by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.
According to Fox News, the 42-year-old New Mexico native Melanie Stansbury linked her bid to Congress to the proposed and enacted Democratic legislation on pandemic relief, infrastructure spending, and interventions to slowing down climate change. The victory of Stansbury adds up to the increasing Democratic majority in Congress ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
