Detroit DJ Derrick May has decided not to attend a planned panel discussion at the Detroit Historical Society, the museum said Thursday, following a series of sexual assault accusations from women across the globe.
The May 30 event will commemorate 20 years of the city's electronic music festival. May, hailed as one of the pioneers of the techno genre, will abstain in an effort "to avoid distracting from the celebration," a tweet from the museum said.
To avoid distracting from the celebration of the music, people and history of Detroit’s electronic music festivals happening on 5/30 at the Detroit Historical Museum, Derrick May has decided not to attend the planned panel discussion. The panel will feature other industry giants.
