TAUNTON — On the afternoon of Aug. 14, 1991, 53-year-old professional gambler Howard Ferrini was spending his time the way he often did during the summer —hanging out with his friends at the Raynham dog track.
Around 4 p.m., Ferrini told them he was leaving and would be back in a few hours, as he was excited about participating in a sweepstakes that was planned for later that evening.
It was the last time Ferrini's friends would ever see him.
Now, nearly 30 years later, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn's office says it has at least partially cracked the cold case of Ferrini’s murder.
