Dimapur, July 1 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday said the deputy commissioners (DCs) and superintendents of police (SPs) hold the prime posts in serving the country and are the “face of the state government.”  Being the administrative heads in the districts, the chief minister said the DCs should be more effective in maintaining law and order situations, exercising government policies, implementing the development activities effectively, and making them visible in the eyes of the public, stated a DIPR report. Addressing the inaugural programme of the two-day Deputy Commissioners’ Conference at the Conference Hall, Commissioner’s Office, Kohima, Rio likened the administration and police to a husband and wife and said the two should work together with all the responsibilities vested upon them in making the district prosperous. Rio also pointed out that being the administrative heads, the DCs are expected to possess leadership qualities in taking decisions and timely action in any matter. The chief minister asked the DCs to propagate the names given to the various districts, in line with the name given to the state as “Land of Festivals.” Rio also urged the DCs to be wise in handling cases and delivering justice to the citizens...
