DAR honors high school students with Good Citizen Award

Bethel Fife and Drum Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution honored three area high school students with the DAR Good Citizen Award: Charlize George, Cannon-McMillan; Samantha Seewald, Upper St. Clair High School; and Riley Sweet, Mt. Lebanon.
The award is for individuals who display qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. Teachers and the school’s senior class select the students.
Students who are chosen as a high school’s DAR Good Citizen are invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program by submitting an essay. The essay winner is selected by independent judges. This year’s focus question was, “How do the combined actions of so many good citizens keep our nation moving forward?”
