Daniel Donskoy appeared in season four of Netflix's The Crown as James Hewitt - Princess Diana's (played by Emma Corrin) riding instructor with whom she had secret romantic meetings. His character is based on the real-life James Hewitt, a 62-year-old Northern Irishman who was made a lieutenant for the British Army in 1980. He also served as a Challenger tank commander during the Gulf War, later retiring from the British Army in 1994.
