The Carl Sandburg Songbag Concert Series features local and regional musicians that perform in the vain of the series' namesake. Besides being a celebrated poet and author Sandburg was also a writer, collector, and performer of American songs. The series at the Carl Sandburg features local and regional musicians that perform in the vain of the series' namesake and it's named after Sandburg's 1927 book titled, "The American Songbag." The entire concert series is presented by the Carl Sandburg Historic Site Association and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. This Sunday it's the Dance Hall Doves' turn to perform at the Songbag Concert Series. A duo made up of Erin Glasnovich and Corie "Cow" Weisenberger combines a mix of bluegrass, folk, rock, oldies, and original tunes. The duo is compromised of Orphuem Theater Director Erin Glasnovich, who also performs solo as Sullivan's Daughter, and Corie "Cow" Weisenberger who also lends his musical talents to such bands as the Memphis Dives. Charlie Hayes will be the Songbag series' last performer of the year on Nov. 13. Sunday's Sandburg Songbag performance will be in the Sandburg site's barn at 313 E. Third St. in Galesburg. The show starts at 2 p.m. with a break for refreshments at 3 p.m. A donation of $5 per person is suggested to help offset the cost of the performance.
