PLANS to set up a new self-storage facility with more than 100 shipping containers in Dalmuir look to have been dealt a final blow.
The proposals for a vacant site in Auld Street were refused by councillors last year – and an appeal against that refusal has now been dismissed.
Applicants, The Storage Zone, who already operate facilities in Glasgow and Hamilton, were seeking permission to site 115 storage containers on vacant land which, 20 years ago, was home to a waste transfer station.
But councillors refused to give the proposals the green light because the site has already been allocated for housing in the West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) local development plan – and because of the impact council officials said the plans would have on neighbours.
