Since then, Showalter and his wife, Sue, relocated to Austin, and last week Strand of Oaks released dreamy new single "Galacticana," the first song from forthcoming album
In Heaven, which Showalter recorded in October of 2020 with Kevin Ratterman at Invisible Creature in Los Angeles. Ratterman plays drums on the record, which also features My Morning Jacket's Carl Broemel (guitars) and Bo Koster (keys), plus a guest vocal/guitar spot from James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) on the track “Easter.”
"
In Heaven was created with so much love and my greatest hope is that it connects with people and provides a momentary space for reflection, joy, catharsis and whatever else someone might be looking for in their life," Showalter said in a release. "Music is magic and I feel like the luckiest person in the world that I'm allowed to share it.”
