The DA in AbaQulusi Local Municipality has written to the Speaker of Council, Councillor Micheal Khumalo, to request an urgent investigation on the conduct of Mayor Mncedisi Maphisa and provide a report to council (view letter here). This follows a leaked audio that has been widely circulated in the media, where Maphisa can be heard instructing municipal officials to hire and fire officials only through his involvement.
