In summary, this work has demonstrated the effects of rCypA in asthma in both OVA-challenged asthmatic rats in vivo and ACh-induced contraction tracheal spirals ex vivo. The study also identified the underlying mechanism by which rCypA may have a precise role in limiting inflammation in asthma by suppressing the secretion of Th2 cytokines and balancing the ratio of Th1/Th2 cytokines, indicating that CypA may serve as a potential novel therapeutic strategy for asthma.
