JEFF LACKEY, CVS HEALTH VICE PRESIDENT OF TALENT ACQUISITION, SAYS THERE ARE 10,000 HEALTHCARE WORKERS READY TO GIVE THE COVID-19 VACCINE TODAY, BUT THERE’S A NEED FOR THOUSANDS OF PHARMACISTS, PHARMACY TECHNICIANS, AND REGISTERED NURSES. >> THEY’RE GOING TO GO INTO THESE LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES, THEY’RE GOING TO BE CHANGING IN AND OUT OF PPE, THE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT THEY’RE GOING TO BE IMMUNIZING. THIS IS LONG DAYS, YOU KNOW, AND HARD WORK. DAN: LACKEY EXPECTS SOME COULD SPEND 10 TO 12 WEEKS GOING INTO NURSING HOMES AND REINFORCEMENTS HELP GIVE OTHERS A BREAK. CVS HEALTH SAYS LICENSED PHARMACY TECHNICIANS ARE NEEDED HERE. IN OHIO, THERE ARE 850 OPEN JOBS. IN INDIANA, 700 OPEN JOBS. AND IN KENTUCKY, 100 OPEN JOBS. AN ACTIVE LICENSE IS REQUIRED FOR PHARMACY TECHNICIANS IN ALL THREE STATES, ACCORDING TO CVS HEALTH. LACKEY SAYS PHARMACY TECHS WHO AREN’T CERTIFIED WON’T GIVE THE SHOTS. ACCORDING TO CVS HEALTH, THEY HELP WITH PRESCRIPTIONS, INFORMATION, AND COVID-19 TESTS, WHICH ARE IMPORTANT FACTORS MOVING FORWARD. >> A LOT OF THE FOLKS WHO AR MOST GREATLY AFFECTED, THEIR COMMUNITY, THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT THEY CAN SEE ARE THEIR PHARMACIST AND MINUTE CLINIC. THEY MAY NOT HAVE A PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN. SO, THEY DEPEND ON US AS THE SOURCE OF HEALTHCARE, AND SO, WE NEED TO BE THERE FOR THEM.
