Behind the pulpit at First Church of God, Bishop Timothy Clarke uses his booming voice to offer hope, call people to action and emphasize God's vision.
Clarke, senior pastor at the Southeast Side church, has his own vision, too. His is about how to make Columbus the best place to live and raise a family, a dream he first heard voiced by former Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman.
The pastor knows all too well what obstacles he faces. First Church of God hosted the funerals of Casey Goodson Jr. and Andre Hill, two Black men shot and killed by police officers in December. But Clarke says it's important to carry on work that may not be completed in his lifetime.
