Porter County proposes using opioid settlement funds for sheriff's department social worker – Chicago Tribune

Porter County will likely be using a portion of the federal opioid settlement funds to hire a police resources and outreach coordinator for the Porter County Sheriff’s Department. The position will be modeled after one Sheriff Jeff Balon instituted in September 2021 when he was chief of police for the Valparaiso Police Department.
