CONNECTICUT — More than 8,000 homes and business are still without power at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, in the aftermath of high winds that raked the region Monday night.
Eversource is reporting 8,605 customers without power, or about 0.67 percent of their total base. There are 113 United Illuminating homes and businesses, or 0.10 percent of their customers, still in the dark.
"Consistent, strong winds with gusts up to 50 miles per hour have been roaring across the state since the storm began last night, bringing down tree limbs and causing significant damage to the electric system," said Eversource president of regional electric operations Craig Hallstrom.
