Live in my district, ranchers as well. How would you describe to someone living in a different state some of the things you are concerned about regarding this district . I think the concerns i share are similar to a lot of people throughout the county and the rest of the state. We are facing issues of Economic Diversity how do we make sure we have highquality, high paying jobs for the next generation . One of the things i was reading about people are concerned about in the state is the economy. Can you describe to us what it is they are concerned about and what is going away that needs to be replaced . It is no secret we are an Extractive Industries state. They have treated as well, and several companies have paid the bills for 50 plus years, and it has been great. We have brandnew schools, really good infrastructure, but coals best days are behind us. We are trying to figure out how we adapt as a county, as a state, as a community to really be prepared for the Economic Future that we all want. There are kind of growing pains that i think as a community and a state we are certainly going through. Just last week at bel air, eagle butte mines, 600, 700 miners were laid off. There are serious growing pains about what does the future look like . There are a couple of different factors that have come to hurt the coal industry. To an extent, there was pretty heavyhanded regulation out of d. C. In the previous administration, but probably the biggest driver for the reason why coal is the way it is is because of natural gas. It is so plentiful and so cheap, these companies are using cogeneration and using natural gas as a cheap, viable alternative fuel. That is one of the biggest drivers. How we adapt is kind of the big question we are asking ourselves in the legislature. Wyoming has a lot of the young folks weve, and where do the jobs go . Big metropolises, like denver, houston, california or new york city. I do not blame them, but one of the great things sheridan has going for it is we are a relatively diversified economy, compared to the rest of the state. We have some great Light Manufacturing here, like firearms, a factory opened up. We have these Light Manufacturing companies that are contributing in a big way to the local economy. What i was reading about, the big game migration corridor. Describe for our audiences why migration is an issue, the conservation and how does it affect infrastructure . Sure. The concerned about things like the environment and making sure we have this beautiful place for generations to come. A lot of folks from wyoming communities care about having a healthy environment that they can recreate in, hunt and fish. We are proud of our big game here. We have so many different species. Some of the species, like the mule deer, have been herding for a while. That is just mule deer. Two or three people die a year because of moose. It is building these mitigation sites, the underpass on the overpass, where they are migrating in the mountains of summertime and then they go back to the feeding grounds in the winter season. A structure can have a huge impact on the herds and helping them maintain healthy population levels. That is what we are working on. They are very expensive, which is kind of the thing. They reduce mortality on a given site by 90 , but they are very expensive to build. Right now, the legislature is trying to find out creative ways to come up with the money to build them. We want to have large swaths of contiguous, highquality habitats for mule deer and strike a balance with the human species, where we can build homes. I know a lot of people across farming communities are paying attention to this and wants to see a great outcome as well, because they care about the species, whether they are hunting them or wildlife enthusiasts being healthy.
