Passengers safe. And finally i want to takeak a moment to remember and applaud all thela members of congress ad i think even more importantly the dedicated staff whove who d on this reauthorization legislation along with all the dedicated Aviation Industries who strive to keep us safe and on time. Thank you, mr. President. I yield back. I rise today to discuss the bipartisan bicameral agreement reached for a longterm federal Aviation Administration reauthorization. You would know as a member of our committee we worked hard to bring the faa Aviation Community together to make certain that we do not end up with a result of one more extension after extension and we can provide some certainty in fulfilling its mission. When i became the Ranking Member of the aviation subcommittee, i stated the importance of passing a longterm reauthorization and pledged to work with senators duckworth, cruz and cantwell as well as my other colleagues on the committee to get a comprehensive agreement completed. I want to thank the leaders of both into the House Transportation Committee congressman graves and larson for their months of work to get us to this point and also my counterpart on the aviation subcommittee, the chairman of that committee senator duckworth of illinois. Pleasure to work with with a commitment to aviation and experience to back up the desire to see success on this effort. Multiyear reauthorization is vital for longterm planning and growth in the industry including the maintenance and modernization of infrastructure and technology. Continuing the shortterm extensions are detrimental to the Agency Industry and to the tflight. This weekend next Week Congress must come together to ensure the current extension of the federal Aviation Administration that is until may 10th will be the last. No more extensions. Last october the senate recognized how critical the faa is to the country and evidence that recognition by voting 98 to zero to confirm mike would occur as the faa administrator. If the United States is to remain a leader in the Aerospace Domain and its critical that we provided with resources and tools as they require. The aviation sector has seen close calls and near misses that plagued the nations airspace in addition toac Quality Control concerns. Recent incidents as indicated now more than ever the Aviation System needs certainty, stability and thats provided in her part by congress. The original Senate Legislation was drafted after eight committee and subcommittee hearings and im pleased many of my priorities were included in this legislation. Kansas will have an Important Role to play advancing the industry including research and development and hypersonic flight testing. This legislation also includes my priorities to bolster the aviation workforce, improve the faa backlog, promote women in aviation, expanded travel, accesspl for people with disabilities, attract air service to small communities. Support staffing safeguard programs and i encourage my colleagues to once again find a collaborative way to move forward to address the reauthorization. We manufacture lots of airplanes in kansas and we are the air capital of the world and more general than any place in the world are manufactured there as well as commercial and i sometimes think that if i have any reputation as being an advocate, its probably because we manufacture so many airplanes but i also, that certainly is true but i also would highlight the importance of an airport or airplanes to small communities across kansas not just in thens manufacturing centered around southcentral kansas, but every community and their airport as in a sensual way in which that community has i a brighter futu. Airports and aviation including commercial air ports is important to the wellbeing of statese like ours. The American People deserve the safest in fact that is probably the most important component of what we can do here is to ensure as best we can the safety of the public. There is no future of aviation and aerospace in kansas or elsewhere if citizens of the country and around the globe are not feeling safe and secure to fly. The American People deserve nothing less than the most efficient Aviation System in the world. Our bill provides critical safety enhancements, grows americas aviation workforce, invests in infrastructure and airports in urban and rural communities, sets of clear priorities for advancing innovation solutions, improves the flying publics travel experience and ensures a healthy general aviation sector for years to come. Again i think my colleagues on the committee for working to accomplish this moment and i look forward to the boat that takes place a little later today and i encourage my colleagues to work hard to see that we get this completed in the next few days. Mr. Chairman, mr. President , i
