We want to change that we want to border. The best thing we could just get out of other peoples nations. Our socialist Solutions Building Foreign Policy is inbringing ba, closing the 800 military bases all across the globe. Shutting down nato. The Southern Command in putting those soldiers that are out there doing the bidding of capitalism in this country to do meaningful work. [applause] thank you so much. I believe the 50 year failed war on drugs has create a more drug users than it has stopped. It is time to end this failure. And spend more money on the problem its not going to fix the problem we have to de schedule drugs at the federal level and they cartels this is going to solve a big part of the problem at our southern border. At her southern border because of the federal Government Policies at the cartels are disrupting the people south of theth border thy are fleeing of violence and crime that the cartel so by a limited then we can get rid of a lot of the problem. Theyre still chaos at the border. What we need to do is streamline the system so that people6■e ca■ come here easily, find work easily and be legal in this country. Just like my ancestors were able to try to come and find the American Dream. I agree with claudia, we need to stop thehe imperialism in ameria when you stop projecting ourselves all over the3 world. There is a growing movement against what some call the Prison Industrial Complex. America has many more people in priss and jails than every country in the world except china. Do you think there is a crime wave . And how would you rethi our criminal laws and penalties for the 21st century . What steps would you take to ensure prisons are more focused on rehabilitation . Take it where you made. No i do not think where the middle of a crime wave we are over criminalization will be a far too many things that are illegal in this country where there is no victim we mention md the war on drugs idr can any otr behavior youre not hurting a another person should be absolute legal we throw so man people in jail for this it creates trauma. You take somebody who is an addict and remove them you arrest them, you throw them in jail you traumatize them throughout the process. You do not get them help to get back on the street with the first thing they do . They alleviate that trauma with the drugs for this creates a cycle thats routing some of the communitys in the country prickly commuters of color and those who dont have the meats when they try to take them down. I support changing the entire way wep of the way starting we talk to Police Officer you should have no qualified immunity for police because if you are done wrong h should g your day in Court Officers should be required to carry Liability Insurance and the dude youre wrong theres a settlement against and that comes other insurance policy not balls aother the taxpayerfundem and local government we need to do things likeir ending the deah penalty ending at mandatory minimums ending private prisons i am a libertarian i dont leave the government should do a criminale justice i want to remove the profit motive for shoving them into prisons i oppose private prisons. For every step of the way for release, probation kinds of abuse and people are paying hundreds of dollars a month to be monitored by the state when really they probably shouldve been arrested in the first place. I absolutely want to change this. We are not in a crime wave we are in at mere generated fea when you watch the ballot box because when youre scared its easier to control you. I trust most people are good people and if given the chance they will be able to live their lives in peace without the interference of government. Remove the over criminalization lified immunity that ourselves back to a truly just Justice System that treats people equal the court of law does not give government handout. The majority is there for nonviolent drug crime. This creates all sorts of knock off problems for the cost of incarcerating someone we could be providing them with a College Education and ensurg extremely oppressive and criminalizing drug laws. We should also be addressing basic poverty and the causes of an impoverishment and the rives petty crime. Petty crimes are so compared to corporate crime and routine ripoff of publicou interest by wall and atlarge of billionaires who also received enormous subsidies from the public by way of tax breaks it. For corporate contribution to our taxis in fact it used to be 6 of gdpdp after the second wod war is now 1 of gdp. In giving away the store to the mo fortunate those who are essentially rollingar and profit community, enter schools and so on and create a desperate environment than a criminal enterprise particular drug sales so by legalizing drugs and providing f s communities we cant essentially and massively reduce the incarceration people should also be pardoned and released from. We need to understand the very basics the very foundation of the criminal Justice System in the country of the incarceration system of this country and it is based precisely on private property it is based precisely on the control and the surveillance of people. There was no abolition of slavery in this country. There is a■s differentiation of methodology. People in prison still do cheap labor for this country. We need to abolish the Prison Industrial Complex that has a profit motive. Has a profit motive. We need to understand security in our communities as housing, employment, education. Those are things we need. We need to understand that the majority of crimes that jill mentioned are crimes of survival. Peopleuntry. And so we need to be clear that when we are talking about mass incarceration, does not protect society. We are talking about policing and the increase in budgets that happen every year for Police Departments across the country. It does not provide security. It provides violence and brutality in our communities. 2023, we saw a record highs of Police Brutality in our communities. And so we need to be able to understand the very roots to deal with the problem and not just the symptoms. Rm if we want to be able to abolish we need to abolish capitalism. If we want to ale bullish policing, we nd to abolish capitalism and we need to create a society that is able to provide with basic and human rights so that we have ame becas what, sociologists talked about that, where theres less need for people to cover their needs, there is less crime. We want to be able to provide for our people. Thank you, [applause] we see this in governmen whee and upper elites are able to get away with things that normal people would never get away with that we would all find themselves in prison with yet somehow theres multicures of justice based on who you know and how much money you have. We need to level the Playing Field and some of the ways that we can level the Playing Field and unrig the system we can end unqualified immunity so that police cannot hide behind their badge t i that is bad they get held accountable. We have to get rid of the profit motive for them. Bo i think that puts a lot of people in prison that dont need to be there. Desperate people do desperate things. Pele in america thatancially and economically due to the way that our government system is run. We need to lift people up and need to improve our economy for all people. I grew up really poor with outhouse and no all americans e to get to that level of success. I want all americans to be lifted up and have a standard of living that we can all used to d i call for an end to the Federal Reserve because i believe that the de the key institutions that is creating wealth inequality in america by stealing money from regular folks and handing to it the Banking Cartel and corporatt tickles down we get a few pennies on thewn dollar. We need to embrace the economy, lift it d up, embrace energy rae and really get this economy going. Abolish the irs. Does anybody want to rebuttal to something that by because they have done things for the right. For the right of people. We have folks that cannot full lives like snowden and Julian Assange because the United States of america to understand that not everything that is legal is legitimate. Not everything that is legal is right and we have the create to rightto create level of socid this is what Political Prisoners have done. The black liberation movement, Freedom Fighters after coming out after beied by the state, the United States government, republicans, democrats the ruling class of this country are killing our people and they are caging them. Ths growing trend, political repression that goes hand in hand. Owe have been growing censorshp and which is part of oppressive political environment that we are now fighting which is bipartisan and which really demands our resistance and unified opposition. All right, moving on i just want to make a quick note. Moving on here, our question from the public is how would you ensure that tribal nations are adequately protected beyond recognizing tribal treaties and land acknowledgments. What would you address address reservations across the United States, what steps would you take in returning land back to indigenous nations and how wo you reinforce indigenous sovereignty. We are going to start with claudia. I think that the United States ruling class have a historic debt with the Indigenous People of the country. Reparations are the call, we need to provide the indians but also black americans. The country was found on genocide and displacement of Indigenous People andlso on the back of enslaved african that is were brought here to build the country. We have a historic debt with Indigenous People and d plaque■n americans. We need to work to rebuild those communities, the levels of suicide of Substance Abuse are of the many, manyhat have come through, again, the ruling class that extracts and steals the land from these communities and so wheree are talking about a socialist solution we are talking about understanding and assuming the historic responsibility that we have with those communities, land that becomes to the indigenous communities should be given back, being able toge provide te resources necessary for the Indigenous Community is an immediate call and being able again to level the Playing Field and provide for those■■e communities that have been brutally and violently placed in lethe conditions of poverty that they are right now. 20 seconds but, okay, you can have it. The pipeline going through Standing Rock put at risk the entire Mississippi River and the Drinking Water for Something Like 20 Million People and the t same is true now with the Mountain Valley pipeline, in fact.
