Business we had to have an experience with back and forth upanddown with everybody across the country and then we have to back up so when we sat down we went straight to online sales but it took a little while. So we quickly moved ourselves to online sales and began to sell through the online website. In addition people have added that phone calls and emails and instagram as well which was a big surprise for us and allison has managed those online sales which means we are sending books out from the store directly to people because they lifted some of the restrictions as we are full of bicycles and car and people so we call it indoor pickup so we can take their credit card or the online sales. It has caused a different kind of complication in the way we do business. We are learning something every day thats what happens in between. That is your daughter the coowner what is your experience since we talked to you last . We have been very grateful publishers have offered a few Virtual Events so that has helped our sales so the american Booksellers Associations over all of us talk to each other many of us are experiencing the same things from place to place that has been very encouraging for all of us although separated by distance we are connected to each other from ideas and customers that we share. I am grateful for the association Booksellers Association we did open our doors for a minute that we didnt then we did again but not wide open to the public because im afraid but as we progress through the summer we have many people coming up from the south first of all because of the climate but also the family over the years because now we are finding cases in michigan as well. So and then to keep the doors closed. We do welcome them to come and browse and then to see how they respond. Host we talk to you on may 5h prior to the killing of george floyd in minneapolis. How did that as a black owned business affect you . It affected us in two ways. We have a lot of compassion for the family and our community in particular resisting Police Brutality and police violence. And the marchers came by our store we cheered them on and also in all the ways that we could come offered information to those who are interested in learning about president abolition with all of those issues. Right. So we are primarily a nonfiction bookstore. So those books that got popular all of a sudden we could sell quite a few books to people if they were taking on a life of their own. So that kind of communities sensitivity not only detroit but across the country
