Talked about the states response to the coronavirus pandemic following a recent rise in covid19 cases. He said the increase is linked to more testing in hospitals around the state had the capacity to meet the needs of patients. This is an hour and 15 minutes. Good afternoon, everyone. Good to see everyone today, thank you to all the good people of arizona. It has been a difficult several months. Even increasingly so over the last couple of weeks. I want to say thank you to all the peaceful protesters, all the Law Enforcement leaders, all the cops and deputies and our healthcare workers who have all been working overtime. Thank you for what you have done. I want to give you an update on where we are in arizona around covid19. We are going to take a calm and steady approach. The urgent action we are going to make will be to Talk Public Health and everything we talk about today will be informed by data and information. And make sure you have accurate data and information. Lets review briskly how far arizona has come in the last three months. On march 11th, 2020, there was a declaration of statewide emergency made from the Governors Office and our First Executive order was to protect arizonas most vulnerable communities. On march 19th, we had an executive order to halt elective surgeries. The focus at that time was around personal protective equipment. There was a real concern around the shortage of that and that happened in midmarch. On march 2, 06, covid19 was declared widespread in our communities and has been widespread since then. We put out an executive order to increase Hospital Capacity. This was the pandemic preparation for what could be a worstcase scenario. We required hospitals to activate their emergency plans at the end of march and increase the capacity by 50 , 10 million in grants, additional ventilators for use in july and the stay home stay healthy, stay connected order on march 30th, the objective of that order is to slow the spread of this virus, we are watching what is happening in new york and louisiana and michigan, eastern seaboard and other places that were hit first and hit hardest and we were preparing if that were to come our way. The idea was to reduce the number of new cases from one day to the next to help prevent the Healthcare Systems from becoming overwhelmed. On april 9th we began to put forward what could be Surge Capacity in field hospitals, Saint Lukes Medical Center was added on april 2, 02, we were able to resume elective surgeries because we had our arms around the ppp issue in the state of arizona at that time. On april 20 third april 23rd we launched the arizona surge line, this is a tollfree call line that facilitates the interfacility transfer of patients to balance hospital resources should that be necessary, this was implemented in new york state on march 30 first march 31st after the state of new york reached 75,000 cases. In arizona, we were able to preplan because of where we were and launch this, 5769 cases and we developed it with the leadership of the developers of Health Services, and hospital processes. In march of 2020, our Hospital Capacity was limited. Today we have daily reporting through enhanced surveillance, ongoing capacity increases. We know to the bed where we are in the state of arizona. Icu beds, 1532. Today, 1657 plus 600 additional surge beds that would be available as needed. Hospital beds 1532, now you have 7652 and additional surge beds. Ventilators, today we have our arms around 1684 ventilators plus an additional 10 million in state issued grants for additional 600 ventilators. So lets talk about where we are on our statistics, informed by the centers for Disease Control we will take you through symptoms, cases, hospitals, those following these press conferences will now this is the same framework we have been working through for months. On symptoms we will see a downward trajectory of influenzalike illness in a 14 day period and a downward trajectory of covid19 like cases in a 14 day period. The blue line represents covid19 like illness surveillance of the goal line represents influenza like surveillance was you can see on the y axis, the stay healthy stay connected order. This metric has been trending down to flat, weve seen the menace do minimus increases from one. 4 to one. 5 , 4. 4 to 4. 7, and 4. 8 . This is a metric we will continue to watch. Lets talk about cases. To we want to see a downward trajectory of cases in a 14 day period, and the trajectory of positive cases as a percentage within a 14 day period. This is covid19 cases by day. We see a clear increase in cases. I want you to hold this increase in cases in your mind as we move to the next slide where you will see a clear increase in testing. The blue represents our testing surge and the dramatic increase in testing so we have an increase in testing resulting in an increase in cases and also an increase in positive tests. The increase in positive tests is not the direction we want to go. We want to go in the other direction so this will continue to be a metric to watch and measure. When you think about this increase in testing, resulting regardless of other factors, resulting in an increase in cases along with an increase in positivity, what we want to measure, what is most important is where are we today in Hospital Capacity . That was the reason for the stay home stay healthy stay connected order, to slow that spread so that we could treat all patients in arizona without crisis care. These are our hospital beds. This does not include 2600 additional surge beds. Blue represents inpatient beds in use. Gray represents inpatient beds available. I want you to see the total picture and on this next slide we will overlay covid19 cases in arizona. The covid19 cases are in gold. You will see a tolerance over the last several weeks between 14 16 . We have capacity in our hospital beds and you see an increase in covid19 cases. Intensive care unit hospital beds, make sure we get icu beds to care for you. This doesnt include what we do in Surge Capacity with 600 beds, the blue represent icu beds in use, gray represents available beds today. You will see that the Courtney Kube you will see that covid19 cases are between 26 , 24 of icu beds. We have capacity in our icu facilities regardless of what you are extremely sick with. This is intensive care units, gold represents covid19 patients, and you see the number of patients, it is fair to say these are fairly flat lines. That intensive care unit hospital beds in arizona today. Ventilators, if you look sick you may need a ventilator, blue represents total ventilators in use, gray represents ventilators available. I will overlay the covid19 numbers in gold, you can see we have a lot of ventilators available in arizona. We have access to more ventilators if necessary and the covid19 number has remained pretty flat for ventilators. Arizona hospitals are prepared and you dont have to take it from just me, you can take it from arizona hospitals including banner health, dignity health, honor health, and Northern Arizona healthcare. There has been a lot of misinformation out there. It is important we have the facts straight on where we are at Hospital Capacity in arizona because our citizens deserve to have the facts. Recently there have been local and National Media reports regarding increase in confirmed positive covid19 cases in arizona and how our state is managing the covid19 crisis. As representatives of the Largest Health systems representing 80 of care provided in the state we would like to assure the public we have available bed capacity and surge plans are in place to continue to serve the people of arizona. We are well prepared to manage an increase in patient volume. It is important that people know we are not seeing an increase in patient volume. We are prepared if that increase should come. The facts are weve got an increase in testing, and increasing cases and an increase in positive test results. So we are going to continue to stay laser focused on covid19 in the state of arizona. I really want to applaud private sector partners and doctor chris in that apartment of Health Services for the Robust Testing Program we do have in place for our at risk healthcare workers including Antibody Testing and trays contacts of covid19 results. This is our testing by day, you see supply chain was an issue, other states getting hit before we were hit, getting hit harder, we were able to have our sixth straight weekend of testing bullets. This is all labs in the state of arizona, 429,000 tests have been conducted, 309,000 plus in terms of diagnostic, 120,000 in serology. We have had days in arizona of 19,000 tests conducted. A few days ago 12,000, 383 tests conducted. We have a Global Pandemic and it is impacting our nation everywhere including arizona. We have put some states here that were making National News early in terms of the cases they had and cases per capita. We talked a lot about new york state, we learned a lot, massachusetts, in comparison to the western states, it gives a focus on data and information that we follow and track every day, to slow the spread of covid19 in arizona and protect our citizens. I want you to be we are in the past week, 19 states have seen a new rise in cases compared to the previous week. Since the start of june, 14 states have reported the highest ever 7 they average of new cases, we are seeing increasing cases. We will continue our gradual, phased in reopening, we balance Public Health with Public Safety and increase testing and content tracing. We are going to increase in terms of Hospital Capacity and whatever will come next, we are prepared today but we are vigilant every day, discussing some other things in the state and in the nation, Public Health has been top of mind for my administration and it has been doctor chriss entire focus. What people want to know is we have capacity for covid19 hospitalizations or nonabca15 hospitalizations regardless of the level of care that you would need in the state of arizona anywhere in the state of arizona. Arizona has capacity. We are going to increase testing. Our testing in arizona has doubled since the stay at home order expired on may fifteenth, 146,000 tests, today we are north of 300,000. Testing has increased by 500 since april 15th. We have 47,000 plus pcr tests, 309,273 tests. We want to return smarter as a state. We know so much more about covid19 today than we did on march 11th, yet this is a virus. We will continue to stay focused and vigilant around. And with that i want to turn it over to doctor crist will give us an update. Thank you, governor. We have been talking covid19 for a couple of months and we want to remind you that every arizona and can do your part. We know that covid19 is still widespread in our community. One of the things we encourage arizonans to do especially if you are vulnerable to the potential bad outcomes of covid19, if you are over the age of 65 or have an underlying medical condition that puts you at risk we want them to limit their time away from home. You want to make sure you physically distance when youre in public, tape state six feet from others. If you cannot physically distance we want you to wear a cloth Face Covering. We encourage everyone to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water or use a Hand Sanitizer especially after touching your face or even moving your mask, you definitely want to make sure you are using Hand Sanitizer and stay home when you are sick so you dont spread it to others. We are asking all arizona businesses do their part. In the returning smarter executive order it will require arizona businesses to establish and implement policies including physical distancing and disinfecting protocols and that is based on guidance for the centers for Disease Control, Arizona Department of Health Services, the permit of labor, what we ask them to do is implement protocols that will help individuals stay physically distant at their workplace or if they are out in public, doesnt require but encourages them to do symptom screening of their employees when they come in and other things to prevent the spread of the disease. To date we havent located mitigation strategies and we have been looking we have implemented mitigation strategies, we have limited restaurants and bars, suspended visitation to longterm care facilities because we know those are filled with those vulnerable to the disease, we have halted elective surgeries and allowed facilities to request exemptions from that executive order and issued a stay at home order and the goal to slow the spread to ensure adequate Hospital Capacity. We know it is in the community. We are not going to be able to stop the spread, we cant stop living as well. The unintended consequences of what a prolonged Mitigation Strategy could be. So we weigh the risk of those longterm Public Health impacts, differential impacts are important to Public Health and could lead to longterm Health Effects and consequences. One of the concerns is child safety. We want to make sure those children who are at high risk for abuse has somebody is laying ice on them, that has reduced significantly. We know that the learning impacts children can have not been in the classroom or having that Continuous Learning environment, result in education impediments. The Mental Health impact of a stay at home order including the financial and emotional stressors the come with closure of the economy and loneliness and isolation. Im sure you have all heard us talk about that at the department of Health Services but we feel there is a loneliness epidemic. This has contributed to that as well. There are physical health impact. There have been increased cancer screenings statewide, decreased childhood immunizations because children have not been going for their checkups and we have concerns for those victims of domestic violence. An update on our longterm care facilities. By the end of today we are scheduled to complete all the facilities we will be doing the testing for except for two. 40 facilities are coordinating their own testing and so far 15,000 staff and residents have been tested. Four corrections weve updated, the virology testing for staff and contractors, they have direct inmate contact if they want to get testing, there are 31 university of arizona serology testing sites statewide. Of people want to get tested, they go onsite for that specimen collection for the university of arizona onsite. We have been working to provide diagnostic testing in response to some cases that had been identified at the yuma complex and we are working with the department of corrections to implement Infection Control surveys and are currently going onsite to review those plans. I want to ask mick mcguire to give us an update on the big corn fire and thank you to you, the brave men and women of the National Guard and hardworking folks that are working, fighting fires and peaceful protests. Will you let us know what is going on with the big corn fire . The fire burning in fema county that originated in the push ridge area of the west end of the catalina mountains. We are coordinating with fema county emergency management. As you heard me say before, we are in support of the incident and the incident command system through Us Forest Service for an evacuation of a number of areas. I direct the media to the pios running the incident down about specific locations but essentially the northwest sector of the Catalina Foothills area in the tucson sector. We had a fire over the thirtieth, and 30 first of may when we lost structures. Weve had some experience with getting folks into noncongregant shelter technique but we wouldnt normally use but the covid19 situation has forced us to do that. Thank the red cross and all the groups that step up to help with those things. We pray the structures in fema county with this one. Thanks, major general. Lets talk about our plan going forward. The plan going forward, we will focus on Public Health and the Education Campaign around physical distancing, washing your hands, stay home if you are sick and wearing a cloth Face Covering when you cannot physically distance. We will increase testing in the state of arizona which will give more sightlines whatever situation is at the state level, focus on cases and Hospital Capacity. We have a team of experienced epidemiologists tracking the data in real time. The number of cases and measuring for hospitalization rates with continued surveillance and loadbalancing of hospital resources and we will prioritize where the risk is highest in arizona, Skilled Nursing facilities, longterm care and prisons and with that we open up for some questions. Governor, i keep getting the same question from people in our community and i want to make sure we are clear. As long as hospital beds and Hospital Capacity is not in jeopardy, do you plan on keeping have there been talks behind closed doors to take a step back, there is more testing, theres more sick people out there as well. As long as hospitals are okay, keeping the faith opening approach. I want to answer the question, the focus has been on slowing the spread, making sure we had Hospital Capacity to provide care and comfort for people that need it. We will continue to focus on that. Where we are today is remaining vigilant. We have seen an increase in caseload. Theres been an increase in testing. I want to maintain every option available to a governor to protect the people of arizona. That is my top focus. If we get to where we are today and gone in reverse order, the first issue if necessary would be around elective surgeries that we conducted arizona hospitals. We resume those and our Surge Capacity inside the state of arizona. As we moved into phase i. This is the green light to proceed, not to speed. We did have several weeks of positive metrics heading in the right trajectory and we are seeing some numbers we want to Pay Attention to and see if those increased cases result in increased hospitalizations was we havent seen that today but that is what i am focused on every morning and every evening. You spoke about capacity ventilators, tests, those kinds of things, treating covid19 is more the machines and icu beds. What about doctors and nurses . You cut regulations early on so you can access more because you were worried about them being in short supply. Can you guarantee enough doctors and nurses to handle this current surge in cases . I would like doctor crist to talk about where we are in doctors and nurses, other governors across the country in a worstcase scenario what would be possible for arizona. Talk about the current status in arizona today. Currently with doctors and nurses we have capacity. If the cases were to increase, hospitals have surge plans or Emergency Preparedness plans that outline a number of tools. One of those tools if they cannot save the physicians or nurses got sick, they can request Additional Resources through their county Health Departments, the county Health Department can bring it up to the state Health Department if we need to. We can recruit volunteers and request federal resources to provide additional staffing. It means reduced care for everyone, people get discharged a little earlier, nurses whose patient ratio gets worse means reduced care. It does not mean reduced care. There are practices to adequate staffing but insurers they are at the appropriate level of care receiving that level of care at that time. You have numbers to provide us with doctors and nurses to ensure the public there are enough people . I dont have that. There is concern that you are tone deaf to the spike in cases National Health experts across the country are voicing concerns the virus in arizona has gotten bad. You say a rise was expected and we have Hospital Capacity. Are those people sounding the alarm, are they wrong . What is your plan if you go the wrong direction, using tools in the governors toolbox. I want to say this is something we have been focused on every day. Since january 2, 07, the Emergency Operations center the department of health service, we have been preparing for an increase in cases for an increase in hospitalization and part of the reason, i want to share a statement from hospitals and where they are from a capacity perspective, this is what we have been in preparation of, we can care for arizonans that need it. We can provide hospital care and comfort, we can do that. We can also do that for the foreseeable future and the entire time we have been focused on a possible worstcase scenario with hospital beds, icu beds, these are not needed or necessary right now. You know everything that i know, working with objects matters on this, this is entirely on the state of arizona and we will continue this. What will it take to admit that you the stayathome order subsides . This has always been about saving lives and also livelihoods in the state of arizona, we put the stayathome order they are so we could prepare for what we are going through right now and we are prepared for it. I want to thank arizonans, they have sacrificed a lot, the behavior and responsibility has been outstanding, we need to redouble our efforts on this, this is not yet behind us. We navigate through this and the Global Pandemic has affected the whole world but hasnt stopped the world from turning. We do this in a balanced and responsible way for the people a his own a, we are committed to going to the storm no matter how long it takes. I showed you a plan at the end of the power point. , did you we have seen an increase in cases. I did not talk at all today about additional reopening. Any reopening would be gradual. There was no opening announced today. We are not going to be able to stop the spread, we cant stop living. Sounds like you have given up in terms of here we are, we are not going to require facemasks, we are not going back to stayathome, so like you have given up and just said we got the economy so we will just live with it. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are 100 focused on the proper decisions for the state of arizona and we will continue to make those decisions. The fact that i am demonstrating what 3 months of work to have available Hospital Capacity to be focused if there were to be a worstcase scenario and the fact that that worstcase scenario is not here today is positive news. We will stay focused on this. We want people to make responsible decisions like they have so far and navigate through this. It is important that people have the facts. This virus is not going away. There is not a cure for this virus and there is not a vaccine for this virus so this virus is something we need to learn to live with and we need to make sure we are protecting the most vulnerable in our society and those are folks in a certain age bracket with Underlying Health conditions and at risk conditions that we will continue to do that every single day until there is a vaccine. Reading from doctor chris, reading wearing facemasks in public, youre protecting yourself and others. When was the last time you were a facemask . I want to say i am all for facemasks when you cant physically distance. Ive got my facemask with me today. When im not physically distancing i wear them and watch them off. Can i answer the question please . I have listened to your question. Can i give you an answer . Even on the cdc guidance, it can be difficult to physically distance in places like pharmacies or Grocery Stores. I was in walgreens picking up things on the way home and i had been to your Grocery Store in both places, i wore a facemask, facemasks are good. When you cant physically distance, where the mask. [inaudible question] can you hear me . Yes we can. We are seeing a spike across the state. We have some hotspots. The local regulations. Criteria along with centers for Disease Control, it does give us the option statewide or countywide to date, we have been able to accomplish the objectives to protect and care for citizens of arizona with statewide guidance, but that will remain an option and if it were necessary for any county we would do that and you want to touch on some of our hotspots and where we are, i want to let me hank can we finish answering the question . Asking for this authority. At the statewide level, a variety of places agree with that. You want to talk about it from a Public Health perspective . As we look at the hotspots there are couple areas we are seeing increased cases. We are seeing increased cases in the central region. We are seeing cases around the southern border. We know there are increased cases across the border in mexico and sonora that are diverging patients up north to arizona so we have been monitoring the situation as well as hotspots with tribal nations. Thank you. Two questions a, the first is a lot of us report what is happening in the community. I see a lot of people in public not wearing masks, if the cases are going up, hospitalizations going up, are you going to make it mandatory to use them . We want to do a better job with things we were doing, a good job before the stayathome order lapsed and masks are one of those. I hear from different folks who say no one is wearing masks. When i went to walgreens, everyone, every Single Person was wearing a mask. It wasnt everyone at the Grocery Store but it was the overwhelming majority. There are some people that cant wear masks for whatever reason, shortness of breath, they are asthmatic, but we want to do a better job from a Public Health communication standpoint that masks are good thing when you cant socially distance. Those types of things go so far in reducing the spread and improving the situation. We are seeing increased in cases, that is a fact and increase in testing. Our Hospital Capacity is we have that capacity today. That is important because whatever reason, a lot of misinformation out before this afternoon. You dont consider making it mandatory for public areas at all . I want people to wear masks when they cant socially distance. I want to make sure questions about local why not allow Health Officials, Maricopa CountyHealth Officials are city of phoenix Health Officials make their own decisions based on that . You said the government closest to the people is best. Why not let them make the decision . I will continue to believe the government closest to the people is best except in a Global Pandemic. We want to have clarity and consistency for our citizens and we want to reduce the confusion that has happened across the state across the country. It is a difficult time. Many things are changing. We retain the option to make decisions at the county level if necessary. Every decision i has made has been informed by Public Health and that is where we are today. The increase in testing with the increase, and we are seeing other numbers. A steady increase, in the past month or so. We have the worst positivity rate, not just increased testing at the outbreak is genuinely getting worse. You want to talk about the increase in positive and i want to talk about the increase in testing. We continue to monitor, we have an increase in the positivity. We know there is community spread. We are going to be working on trying to bring that back down and that will include Public Health education message. We do know that we have a lot of testing going on and when you get increased cases you have a High Percentage of those tests come back positive and those people are seeking care which is getting them tested because they are developing symptoms. One of the things arizonans can do is where a facecloth Face Covering when they cannot physically distance and to make sure they are staying home when they are sick was the other thing you can do is symptom check yourself before going into make sure you dont have a fever or cough or shortness of breath because you may have covid19. The numbers are still near the bottom of dc and puerto rico in terms of per capita testing. Why is that the case in what is being done to remedy that . We continue to add sites to our website. Anybody who wants to get tested can go to covid19 testing on our homepage. You can go to that website to find it. We have 123 sites where you can go get tested. At the beginning we had a supply chain issue with getting testing supplies and there was a lot of demand. As we have gotten more testing supplies and testing availability we have not reached the full capacity. We dont have arizonans trying to fill the capacity. Meaning we have supply. This began with healthcare workers and folks on the frontline, doctors and nurses and emergency medical professionals and we want the people who thought they were exposed to covid19 or may have covid19. If you want a test, get a test. We have a test available. A 120 plus locations and it will help us inform better datadriven decisions. [inaudible] how concerned are you about the process and how confident so, matt, its twofold. One is in the reopening of our economy, arizonans were great, staying at home, staying healthy instinct connected. But with trinity seymour activity in our economy. We saw some of the gatherings that happened over at memorial day. Of course weve seen some of the gatherings that it happened for a righteous cause. A lot of young people in those crowds, which is good news, saw a lot of masks in those crowds which is good news. Didnt see a lot of social distancing. So we need to be prepared, come what may. This wasnt just in arizona. This was across our nation. So it is something that of course we are aware of that we believe, were prepared for but were going to remain vigilant to monitor these numbers. I would say to anyone out there whos been exercising their Constitutional Rights and having their voices heard, if you wanted to take a little bit of time this upcoming weekend and getting a test, probably be a pretty good idea. [inaudible question] because now we have capacity, because were going to complete our longterm care facilities in state prisons, because weve been able to get our healthcare workers, now if youre curious, get the test. [inaudible question] is there a point where that is the key we need to put in mandatory steps. Is thi that something that we ae not there yet and we need to reevaluate . Certainly. We try to think about how to mitigate this and decrease it. How can we someday bring it to an end. But between now and then, we need to be prepared for whatever may come our way. We have said that in arizona we believe they would have been in this june, july and august timeframe that we also know that its going to return in the fall and we want to be prepared for whatever may come. Does that mean they may not be transported out of the counties and if so, how is that facilitated a . This pandemic is all hands on deck and all resources on deck. Useful for the National Guard search with a black hawk helicopters and emergency medical personnel because that is what was needed, that is what was necessary to provide comfort for the people. Thats why they put the search wine in place. So that no matter where it is in the state and where there is a capacity or medical facilities are needed. We can get the citizens where they can be cared for. I dont know that we have had to use it all that often. Its what we are monitoring very closely, the spike in cases. We have all hands on deck whatever we need in terms of transport and if it is before we talk about the search Hospital Capacity. Anything to add to that . [inaudible] our local counties or the dudes on the ground and they are the ones primarily responsible for the Contact Tracing and they knew they do this for a number of cases. Infectious diseases. For the states in order to separate the counties, weve developed a statewide Search Capacity for contract tracing. We implemented a program that sends reminders and tasks them to check their symptoms every day. Thats been adopted by all counties statewide. And we have brought on by capacity through the call wine as well as bringing on additional staff so if the counties need Additional Support either boots on the ground, the state can support into the mechanism. Are these the numbers that youve expected at this stage of reopening . We did expect to see it because of the increased testing and people getting back in the community. And we know that its in the community. I try not to guess what those numbers are going to be because it is hard to predict i and we o know that its in the community. The i was asked if we had wasted taxpayer dollars on st. Lukes because it wasnt apparent at the time that we would need it. That is a part of the investment in being prepared for a worstcase scenario. We are not seeing that in arizona but we have this standing up as a facility along with additional facilities. The what you do is expect the worst. It was going on with other states and places around the country that were getting hit incredibly hard. We learned a lot from those situations. And i was for you while there wouldnt be the indication in terms of the hospitalizations today but that is where we are headed, we will be prepared for whatever happens in the state of arizona. That is what we signed up for. You entered with the highest levels of infection rates. He and the audience havent heard one the thing thing that l change that. Have we missed some . It is important to care for the people of arizona. This virus is in every state in the country. Its in every county in the state. We will continue to mitigate it. I put up numbers where it compares to other states. We cant stop the spread so again, what has been done to stop the spread . With the gradual reopening of the economy to be prepared for the virus which is with us and it isnt in the foreseeable future eventually there will be a cure. We need to find a way that we can care for the citizens that need it. Other issues while protecting as many people as possible. She has liver problems that shes going to live with. Is that just the way that its going to be for arizona . Im thrilled shes alive and out of the hospital. What we want to do is make sure anyone that gets sick parents care and where possible where someone can avoid the contraction. Thats why we are talking every week about this and we are putting information out and we will continue to stay vigilant. You say that arizona this sas morning they havent been able to take effective publichealth action yet. Information that was out there nationally was inaccurate. Now you have the Accurate Information into the citizens of arizona have the facts today. The [inaudible] wearing a mask when you cannot social distance is good, and im going to wear a mask when im in those situations. The there was a lot of National News today. We confirmed them with the hospitals and now weve communicated them to all of you and your Media Outlets along with the National News. So, everyone today have Hospital Capacity. We have the facts straight. I have two questions first is a yes or no answer. We have 1,291 inpatient. The third day in a row over 400. It tied the record. Are these the . Those numbers are selfreported and we take them and upload them to the website. They are continuing across arizona. Did when asked about whether or not you understood the concerns about the racial bias especially policing into their deep concerns, but at this point are you spearheading to try to reduce the tension and make reform and policing here in arizona . The first thing i want to do is thin thank the peaceful prots around arizona. Theyve certainly gotten their voices heard and they continue to focus on this issue. Ive met with leaders in the minority in the Africanamerican Community and im going to continue to meet with the faith leaders additionally. They were before the legislative session closed up most notably in terms of body cameras for the officers but there is additional things we can do. The training requirements into the diversity of the board focused on covid19 mobile training inside of the communities. And my kernel was also reaching out to the community. We do want to start in terms of Law Enforcement and reform at the state level. They all want to help on this front [inaudible] we got the facts on the hospital capacities. We have the facts and it is in letter form. It should be part of correcting the record or all of the misinformation that has been put out statewide and nationally regarding arizona. We have Hospital Capacity in the state of arizona. They said it was and capacity to and then on tuesday and wednesday, wednesday, thursday they went over 80 into the executive order. Those are the most current members, and that means they are nearing capacity so that isnt false information, governor. That shows there has been a growth in cases. Can you address whether we will change the order . My executive order is going to continue to stand. If we were to see a Hospital Capacity that was elective surgeries would stop if you want to address how this misinformation got out there, can be addressed this, please. We continue to work with the hospitals, so if the need to maintain 80 capacity from a systemwide perspective and some have chosen to do it on a hospital by hospital basis, so what youre doing now is working through the data to see if there are any that look like they are over capacity, we will keep working with them to either bring them down or get them into compliance. If they feel that it doesnt accurately represent where they are but they did attest to the fact they would maintain capacity at 80 or below. Typically it takes two or three weeks for someone to be sick enough to be hospitalized. Arent you concerned that they will have the hospitals in a week or two and then have to go into the capacity because that is what the medical experts around the country are concerned about. Let me say from the standpoint in arizona, we are concerned every day that we have the proper capacity and resources. That is what they have been working on for three plus bob is. It is my belief that we are seeing an increase in cases and we pointed out very clearly we do have Hospital Capacity on the back and that is what is most important. [inaudible] we are not at a crisis. We do have hospitals that in one or both may have reported a day by day basis so that is what youre goinweare going back and. We are always pro compliant and we will be reaching out and helping them tell us whether the data is accurate. They have the facts wrong as you say. At what point would you be convinced that they are headed in the wrong direction and what is it going to take . Theyve helped navigate through this so far. We are focused on arizona, and i dont know how many times i have to take you through the metrics. Its showing you where we are on the symptoms and cases and testing in Hospital Capacity. We continue to monitor this and be vigilant where we can and reduce it. That is possible. So if it is going to be something that we continue to educate, communicate and fight every single day. Arizona is breaking its own records though. In the capacity that is old you are concerned about. The cases could result in the rise of severe illness that required hospitalization. Today we are able to provide that. It sounds like more of a question for banner unless you have a question on that. Going around the reopening it will focus on staying vigilant and proper. There are a lot of facilities and they do have capacity within the system therefore some of them may have been more impact than others but we are working very closely. It isnt under discussion. [inaudible] there was a letter that was sent to the department of administration. I have said that there was a public process to be able to put something in the plaza were on the property. I think that there should be a public process if someone wants to go the alternative route. I havent been a fan of removing monuments or memorials, and certainly not because a letter was writtethe letterwas writtenk that there should be a clear public process for people that would like to pursue that. I think there should be a public process. [inaudible] the numbers keep going up. What is your message that maybe i dont need social distancing or to wear a mask. It is a problem that is contributing to the numbers. My message is to stay vigilant. We need to stay focused on making sure that our citizens are safe and we continue to navigate through covid19. Of the things pointed out about when you cannot social distance, but the Face Covering, washing your hands, staying home when you are sick. Lets redouble our efforts on that. Part is weve been terrific as any people in the country in navigating through this so far. But it is human nature. People want to get back to life. And i want that as well, but i want as many people to be healthy. I want to avoid as much success as possible and save as many lives and care for the people that are sick. So, that would be the message in closing. Arizona has Hospital Capacity. But lets refocus our efforts on washing our hands, social distancing, covering our face when we cant social distance. And if you are sick, please stay home and if you have the opportunity this weekend, especially if youve been out and about quite a bit, go and get a test. That information, the data will help us informed decisions going into the future. Thank you, everyone. Thank you everyone. [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] have won a mask in public and i will wear a mask in public when im not socially distanced.
