You might also know brian from his radio show, which Brian Kilmeade to show which is on almost 150 radio stations across the country. Talkers magazine named him one of the ten most important talk radio host in america. Between tv and radio, brian is on the airwaves six hours a day, five days a week. Yet, he found the time to write extreme of New York Times bestselling book, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and pirates, Andrew Jackson and the miracle of new orleans, all books have reached over 2. 5 million readers around the world. Thats fairly impressive. [applause] is our history books. Its impressive. His latest book, which we are celebrating tonight, sam houston and the alamo avengers. Its yet another best seller, it debuted last week as number three on the New York Times bestseller list. [applause] unfortunately, this just came out and hes not at three anymore. These. At two. [applause] so, congratulations. Thats awesome. If you havent read it, youre in for a treat and i got good news for you tonight, youre taking home a signed copy of his new book. We are so honored to have him tonight and hes going to speak to us for a couple of minutes, he told me he might take a few questions, if you are kind to him. Welcome back to the bestseller list. Thank you so much for being here. [applause] thank you all for coming tonight. I dont knoww anybody. [laughter] you all seem very nice, welldressed and you are all basically wearing the same type what gary. Ch is some hes done an incredible job, leading the way with publicity. You could have the best book, you could have the best message, the best story but you have to tell people its out there and there are so many great books out right now. The thing is, you have to have the right plan to launch and so far, this is my sixth book overall, my fourth one with them and i have never had one like this for this long. We been out about three weeks and we are doing the best we can to get the word out so thank you for posting this morning. I was reluctant to do itt becaue to come into washington, it will be worth it, he said. To see this professionalism and know you are drinking and eating for free makes me feel better. [laughter] we dont want you eating in washington d. C. With doctor prince. Good to see things so calm in washington these days, not much happening. This way, when you have a historical impeachment happening when everything is more compelling. If you go to a restaurant for aa second, will have major stories so im goingm to run through ts breach if you know what im saying. So my goal has always been held, get away from politics, comp, bush, obama works out there. Theres nothing i can bring new to the city that they dont know. Michael is to tell an american story teller in a way in i which john, douglas, they do a comprehensively i read those books and close them and i go, i know one thing for sure, i cant do that. When i want to do is get major figures in history, you know whos on the cover when you open it up, you understand more about the people who made them great. Like many people in this room from things on a daily basis. America is made up of socalled average people doing extra things without getting a pat on the back. These people were known in their time, but not our time. If you open up George Washington and say i love washington great, when you close about it, you think about austin, rosa park and abraham was a farmer. When you open up jobber jefferson, you think hes a genius. True. You know about james, edward, mike, without william . My goal is this. When you meet here today, the watercooler or sports barr hanging out in a tailgate, when people challenge you and say americas history, everybody is part of the history, every country is part of the past, thats fine. I want to give you moreou a prof and illustrations to go with it sit there and look around i was born in america, i hit bottom and we have a chance to go playing in the super bowl. All we want is a chance to be successful. We want this thing guaranteed, we dont want the outcome decided, we dont want guaranteed 1000, just want the landscape the best we can, equal chance of being successful. If i thought i could tell a series of those stories, maybe you can take that away. While we do it, we try to find another story of Andrew Jackson, miracle of new orleans and i go back to texas. Anybody here from texas . [cheering and applauding] you are so prideful ofde your past, i did not know there was a blimp between texas and American History. I thought for nine years, they had their own thing going. Lone star state and was but i didnt look at the 1800 texas was wide open. It was also to cut a deal, he brings 300 americanut families, america comes to the new world, people want a new shot after shot. All they wanted was a chance to be successful and see what texas had to offer so we got a gun, rake and plow and they went ahead and made a living. What they were able to do and stand up and fight for freedom and liberty, i thought it was a story important to talk. If i could introduce you to sam houston, this guy should have been president. Hes not a perfect person hundred mentioned by the sky jet Andrew Jackson and ive got to do something i always wanted to do, i love the rocky movies because i believe they are based on a true story. [laughter] you open up in faith back to the previous rocky movie. Its great. Now i remember why im in this theater. I was able to open r up with Andrew Jackson miracle of new orleans and we tell that story of what happened in that battle in a battle that had to be fought. The british had one, they were going to keep new orleans turn over the Louisiana Purchase and stop them from going past mississippi. This guy name sam houston is under this other man, Andrew Jackson. Im able to start there. 1814, sam houston talks about courage. He thought he was impervious. Im thought shot three times and should have died. He goes to washington, pretty close to here according to the map, im able to see just about everything. Birds to on the ground. This country is fragile and courage has to be calculated. How is a payoff . 1836, he tells them to do something they dont want to do not want away. Except for one battle and we got to win it. Right now, were not prepared. As they went away, hes training and gathering them, hes getting more and shaping the battlefield until he finally sets it up in the end and that battle. I thought we could tell that story, i could arm you with another story about country, even though we are pulling each other apart, if i tell you how bad it was and how close we came to total destruction, it will not over react about. Rudy giuliani in ukraine. [laughter] although it is hard. [laughter] lets take a short timeout, you get a movie, four minutes. Letsov watch sam houston the alamo ventures, this was aired on fox news. [applause] 1776, United States was born. Six decades later, another fight for freedom while they by americans. This time it was mexico in the battle texas. O it happens in the early 1830s, texas happened to be an independent state of mexico but that all changed when antonio took out, he immediately showed liberty which is accompanied to break away. These guys were ready to fight. G they controlled a part of texas, when she started having travis and james, the voluntee volunteers, they thought it was an easy one. To the surprise of anyone, pretty much unorganized, they take over the alamo nation. The bad news was coming. Santa ana. He stops the revolution before he could take root. Jim with orders to evacuate. They decide to stay along with william and factor in one of the most in america at the time, they were under. The travesty for them and freedom or death. Courage is something thats different for every person most people are not courageous along but you get courage from people who are around, people around you show optimism. Fourteen days, he has gone fearlessly. 1000 casualties in santa anas edarmy. Walls reach and from travis to crockett. It was supposed to intimidate them. It didnt. 1836, weeks after the massacre, the battle lashes here. 400 men knew they were about to be engaged. Engagement they wanted to say. Once again, they were not cheated. Shes caught in the middle of an open field. N in exchange, they were in. They trusted the mexican general to hold his work. He didnt. The men marched out and were executed. Houston new he had one of the toughest, most unpopular orders in his career. Keep the men he hadad left and retreat. Today, as the runway great. They wanted to preserve himself texas. Hes going over formation and strategy at which time they come to a trade. Sam houston and his mate said you go through that in the american where i can go get more troops and rest my guys or make this decision. All of that andnd go to a new santa ana the army would be waiting. After much celebration, sam houston decided to finally fight the first and only time santa ana sam houston when square off. Who better to take this matter and the author of 18 minutes. That some amount of time that took them to overwhelm, its that time it. The group highlighted the alamo massacred, takes 18 minutes. To achieve the ultimate surprise in American History. Is sam houston, led by freedom, his army courage and resilience and victory change our country and soon changed the world. One thing is pretty fair. We have to i get in better shap. [applause] these were lean, muscular characters i give him credit for showing up that day i know you have to suspend logic but santa ana would be captured and incentiveou pay them from the highest tree, they decide to tell santa ana over texas and also wallop your reinforcements. Courage has to be cap related and revenge has to be calculated and they end up in santa ana, bring them to Andrew Jackson in washington they would oversee and go back to mexico. It haunts them for 20 more years but that was the story. That is sam houston, the alamo ventures and i believe its the texas victory that changed American History because then we moved south and west because of that. Also, understand this, jefferson and jackson adorably believed that texas came with the Louisiana Purchase and could not believe the president monroe and secretary of state John Quincy Adams signed over to exchange so we dont talk about that but back then, i was one of the hottest issues in the country and i just thought by going back and reclaiming in understanding and explaining it, people would start being tapping into their patriotism again. They stayed there for 20 years and i hope people will be interested in Thomas Jefferson, first where on terror, and a people can relate to it. Andrew jackson, 13yearold who loses his entire family and raised by the county in this country, i hope you relate to it by this time the book comes out, if you like im on a mini mission to push back on those who dont understand how great this country phthisis. I have no problem think that. Were not perfect but i thinknk whats great about us, we are trying to be and i think the reason why we argue and fight is because we do something we are not to do, we argue in front of strangers. When its all said and done, we have the same goal, we just have different ways of getting there to make the country a better place. I would like to questions from you, y if you have any and also tell you i do have to be up at 2 30 p. M. And be out in the air so going to be fun in new york. I encourage you, if youre ever around jacksonville, and a few more stops we are going for the next two months and see if we can tackle donald trump junior, hes got a head start. Hes got a famous dad on twitter now. [laughter] he tends to push the bookr] a little bit. Hes a great guy and looks great called trigger. Does anybody have any questions . [inaudible question] [laughter] let me explain something. Im a madman. [laughter] im not a yankee hater. You are a national guy, right . So its obviously fantastic but on a serious note, i used to do all sports radio and will happen in 2017, with the yankees up and a revelation about what the star were doing in 2017 from its an interesting time, i dont know how facebook will be on top of this because if i am the daughters, im not too happy, if im yankees are not too happy. So then they beat them again. With this whole sign stealing things. None what and its the first. Thank you. Im wide open. I have to find something in the next four or five weeks then im going to retire and have it right here for my retirement party. [laughter] you know the headline but you probably dont know the detail. Ill look for something on the inside. A special thanks to fox, they let me do an hour special on the alamo. The other channels are doing something on impeachment, insightful retirement, i waso able to sam houston in the alamo avengers. Something else, fox nation but we do a series t called what mae america great. I got a chance to travel the country. On this country and all the things you probably dont know or have forgotten and thats been a great experience. [inaudible] i started as a sports guy because i thought it was my quickest way to get on the air and probably was but when i want to take a break as i have a few friends, i would open up a history book and thats are so passionate and i never thought i would write one, ever. When bill oreilly bonuses great books, he encouraged me soe mu, im from long island i had this story in detail, he said to me, youve got to write on. Incentive think id history, he said no, youve got to write that. I was handing him chapters and he was handing theo bagin in one gun, he told he should get out so you have a close but you left before the close, leave. Matter. Since the 20ng years, little do they know i dont have a backup. When it was so successful, they said what are youo interested in i said we are kneedeep in vietnam, the war on afghanistan and iraq, in one who rights perspective we got jefferson dealt with at first. Thats what led me to thea jefferson library, university of virginia, where they were able to give me the original documents and i said jackson standing there talking about the alamo. In so im accidental historical author whose passionate about it. [inaudible] is what it is. I know they were shooting each other back then, i get it. There were jewels just as angry. There is a sense of service, there has to be more about the service in the country. Sam houston is the best example. We decided to do this in paperback. Sam houston told texas hes government, were not going to civil war. We are not joining the confederacy. When he got outvoted, he quit. Lincoln reached out and said i will provide troops and money,on you take texas back, we dont want texas in the confederacy. Jackson, even though they were south in houston iss in the south, they were all about keeping the country together first. Jackson was outraged the dates didnt want to join the war of 1812. Its all about printer first. His outraged South Carolina wanted to see the country first. I think our politicians today say whats better for the country, not the party and i have a belief if you listen to the radio show,i i have a belief that compromise will be in soon. Youre going to need some cover, i get it but with a trump when and the democratic side, somewhat moderate, theyve got to sit down and do immigration and healthcare. What we know . We know no matter how brilliant think your Healthcare Plan or immigration plan is, as soon as the other party gets out, they will tear it up if you are going to tear up yours and you tear up there. Nothing will get done. Well have to do this thing called comp mice and i think it will become info soon. You think im right . You dont. [laughter] ill tell you this. I wanted to go beyond the alamo, my second trip with the alamo and i said how to do this with a broader audience . When i got there, i told it comprehensive way, what led to it, what happened and whater happened after, there might be a market for it but i love the fact that guys like g bill collins, the number one alamo fan in the world, and i like family, he joined me on the this specialned and he said military colleges still study it. 180 guys would hold off 3000 plus, 13 days. If they just got 100 couple moree from they might have even one. A local legend that he is, Something Like tuberculosis or what he was suffering from, i have a feeling he still be alive he would have gone away. [inaudible] he kicked me in the five really hard. [laughter] if you go to his house you are right at the helipad go to his house, bringing down the and i think what you are alluding to, i didnt like them, i called him and i watched there were quite process and division, if you want, you brought to the locker room for a championship. I weighed 450 pounds or maybe 600 go against 185 in the netherlands, knock out his teeth teeth, it was an interesting experience. I was one of the first guys the octagon when he designed it. Back then, they wanted me to do interviews and say you might telling the press someone can die tonight . I said no, im not saying that but somebody could have died that night. It was great. No one ever predicted it would be this successful. But he is a killer. If youre going to start with him, get a hotel room. Hes going to fight you all night. [inaudible] overall first off, pregnant with twins and on a book tour with me, is a producer on the radio show and everything. [applause] we had the most interesting tour ever, outside major cities where we went to omaha, lincoln, dayton, we went to wichita falls, texas, waco texas, san antonio my forgetting anything . South bend indiana. When im finding is this, when you go to t texas, i cant belie how many people work related to sam houston or somebody who fought in the battle. At orlando, washington, i moved here a year ago, i came here for my job, when you go to those cities i mentioned, ive been here 50 years, my family from the revolution, to be honest, its not a rubric, you go to nebraska and look around, i dont even see a mountain. The distinct black things the history, when people come up to me and say they are related to the story and i thank you for keeping their families story alive, thats what i walk away with. Thank you for that question. Thank you for doing this party and thanks so much for representative on this. Thank you all for coming out. [applause] thank you so much. Native texan this is the best in my life couple or five pieces, good news for you. The best news is, mine is going to be big a little bit taking photos with him as a way to get him out of here quickly we understand his schedule but if you want to grab a photo with him, you can make your way that way another piece of good news is lieutenant, and we hope youll me for a while because theres so much food and drink but we hope you will help.
