Here at the foundation of the grandson of the 37th president richard nixon. It is my honor and pleasure to have you here at the library today so happy to welcome you see a lot of faces in the crowd which gets me excited and not of young faces which means we have young conservatives. [applause] so it is great to see and i encourage all of you after the event today to walk around the library. It is one of my Favorite Places for obvious reasons but in the world the birthplaces beautiful we have redone the exhibits and of course if you come back you can visit the archives and do research into my grandfathers presidency. There is so much to do here im so happy to have you here today. Today we will begin our program by honoring our nation as we always do but first please welcome our special guest charlie kirk. [applause] ladies and gentlemen please remain standing for the presentation of colors and the singing of our national anthem. Ladies and gentlemen please give another round of applause to the High School Navy junior rotc honor guard and the High School Jazz ensemble for that beautiful tribute to our nation. [applause] there are a few rare moments in life when you actually realize how old you are getting. I have been coming here for decades and this is actually the first time i will be introducing someone who is significantly younger than i am. [laughter] this is a new experience for me. Of course we are very happy to have charlie kirk here with us today are Great American and thinker and author and political figure but really is just an honor to have him here today the founder of turning point usa im sure you are aware. [applause] i would call it the preeminent education for our children today teaching children the values that made the United States great. [applause] and that is what is so needed on our campus today not just at the College Level but the High School Level and Elementary School level that is the greatest danger to our country of what is happening our School System we need the voice of people like charlie kirk out there to show kids there is another option than what is being taught in schools and that is actually the right way to live a life and to support your country and that is what is so exciting to see people get involved and teach our kids what is important about the conservative movement thats why its so great to have him here today. I have to say when founded in 2012 i was at the convention. I remember foster free said come to this meeting. And said we have to do a couple other things but that shows why foster freezes a successful billionaire and where i am today because he made a really good decision to back charlie. We are excited to have him here he will be talking about his book the teethree doctrine not only a great defense of President Trumps record to grow jobs keeping the United States safe he will be known as a Great Peacemaker around the world the book is forwardlooking how the United States defeat socialism it is growing too strong here in the United States. [applause] but this is what i admire the most not just policy prescription he weaves philosophy into this and talks about edmund burke one of my grandfathers favorite author and my favorite were book , also Kathy Griffin to the elites in rome that murdered cicero. This is heavy stuff. [laughter] that is a wonderful part of his book and finally on a personal level, i was very drawn to parts of the book that talked about how President Trump has broken the stalemate between the republican and democratic parties in washington and has taken a sledgehammer to the elites that ran washington for both parties. [applause] and the reason why this is so personal to me i feel my grandfather did the same thing in the 1970s but he did not have allies like fox news and charlie kirk to defend him from what he was doing in the seventies. So that is why i am so honored and happy to welcome charlie kirk here today because we need his voice. I cannot wait to hear what he has to say today and we are thrilled to have him here at the nixon library. Thank you for coming. [applause] hello everybody. Great to be here. This is an honor thank you to the whole Leadership Team here at the library it has been a very long month this week. [laughter] crisscrossed a couple of times to new york to dc alabama charlotte phoenix woke up in florida this morning and here we are. We have a country to save and we have to act like it. It has been amazing. Thank you. [applause] thank you for buying copies of the book it is still number one on amazon which is amazing. We are pleased by that and very honored. Overwhelmed honestly by the response by this book. I really want to dive into what is in here and what is important and what i think the media is missing about President Trump and why he is doing what he is doing. I run the largest conservative Student Organization now 2000 high school and College Campuses across the country. [cheers and applause] fighting for american exceptionalism, constitution we say we play offense in the sense of urgency also turning point usa the left has been winning far too much we are going to go where conservatives have been losing and making sizable gains longterm that will be one of the most important legacies of turning point usa. Thats part of why i wrote this book i have been so blown away by the success of the Trump Presidency is important to recount those of how to succeed but how equally anxious i dont want to see the republican go back the appeasement of our enemies and to bow down to chin china. I think President Trump has positive recalibrated the Republican Party for generations so our generation continues with the success of the Trump Administration for the better. First and foremost i wrote the book because i was watching cable news and i kept coming across the leftwing prognosticators and pundits telling me what President Trump believes. I said you hate him you hate us you had all of us ams will to listen to you . He is doing this to enrich his business or President Trump is doing this with no guiding philosophies and shooting off tweets in the middle of the night. First of all i have spent time with him and with his family i have seen what hes done to our country why is the left articulating the doctrine of the Trump Presidency . You just dont stumble accidentally into the largest tax cut in American History the best economy in American History energy independence, embassy moving and jerusalem the iran deal was canceled finally we can put our enemies on and defense we produce our own shale and oil thats not an accident you dont stumble into that because if it was every other president what have a record of success. Traveling the country talking to people the common question is what have these people been doing the last 20 years . It looks like he is running circles. So that is what i went to go write the book. Who did you interview . I talk to the president partly but also i went to rally after rally of people that would wait hundreds of hours just for a chance to see the president of the United States speak for 30 minutes. Went to the kickoff rally in florida where people spent 200 hours outside through tsunami like conditions and in minnesota they waited outside negative 10degree weather. I am sure all of you appreciate this, that is not normal. There is no band. No beyonce sometimes there is a comedian the president but he is so much funnier than the latenight comedians ever will be. Did you ever notice that . Seriously. Latenight comedy shows they are applauding but the audience is not laughing because they are not funny. It is a political talk show at 11 00 oclock at night. I say what is it that drives these people who wait so long at these rallies and take off of work to feel they are part of something . It goes back that was talked about in the federalist papers by our Founding Fathers that citizen government for the first time in many decades people finally believe there is a vessel that delivers for them in the great irony you could not write this but it took a billionaire businessman who is supposed to be a on is disconnected from you to represent you in the kingdom of washington dc. The moment he came down that escalator he changed american politics fundamentally for good. When you go to these rallies it was i felt like both parties were participating felt like the Republican Party did nothing to fix it. I was so sick and tired of politics as usual i wanted someone with a sledgehammer a brawler to blow it all up. And that is special and in fact it is poetic. People say i dont like his tweets. I will address this one time only here is the best way america was drowning in the middle of the ocean under the decline of both Political Parties over the last 20 years both parties contributed to Big Government management adventurism abroad while the country was crumbling and finally in the middle of the night gasping for air a rescue helicopter brings us back up to life to breathe and the first thing you say is i dont like your tweet history. We are breathing again it is completely irrelevant is like a heart surgeon thank you for the triple bypass by the way i hate your tweets but im glad we are breathing again. Not to mention i could make it argue meant one an argument that it is a northstar for every Single Person to understand what the president tries to accomplish in keeping people accountable if you hold the press conference the media covers a bit now there is a real time standard and accountability measure for every one to know what the president is thinking and doing i think he is hilarious i like a politician outside of the Cocktail Party say one thing do another consensus of washington dc. I dont of care if we offend a couple people he punches back twice as hard because our politicians have not been fighting for our country and they have been perfectly okay with this manage defiance so i said okay that is the thesis of the Trump Presidency. First and foremost when you go to the doctor he said we are losing our borders are wide open the trade deals are stupid they are laughing at us the economy is anemic and the deep state is corrupt and this is like in the first 30 seconds. It was the first honest assessment we received in a long time. So i will tell it straight to the American People i will not sugarcoat it and tell you one thing when it is the other. The second thing is what ideas are rooted in the renewal of the nation to understand that historical significance of what he is doing this to revitalize and resuscitate the country that one cannot manage decline. Because when you have a superpower with 55 Million People on food stamps it is really hard to turn that around. People always vote to give themselves benefits and the Founding Fathers warned us and one of the most amazing accomplishments of the Trump Presidency that is never mentioned is 10 Million People that are off of food stamp sense he was inaugurated. [applause] that is historic. Because for the first time in our countrys history, and modern American History we turn that around that was the demise of the roman empire and many others before to vote themselves stuff but President Trump convinced the electorate theres no dignity and just voting more benefits for yourself. How about we create the greatest economy in American History. So then he runs on the historical improbability that is so amazing because you see what is happening on the democrat side right now that should make everyone kiss the ground thank god he was elected because senator sanders will probably get screwed out of this because the establishment doesnt want him to be the nominee maybe for good reason he is a castro sympathized besides that i hear he is a nice guy. Joe bidens political strategy is the most perplexing anything ive ever seen confusion wife with your sister dont know is that you are campaigning and dont need dont know the preamble or barack obama tell people not to vote for you. Finished fifth and six the first couple contest basically meander into a topic nobody cares about rallies of a few dozen eventually you will be the last person standing to go down as one of the most puzzling political strategies in American History and a lot of that was because of Mike Bloombergs failure as the worst politician in American History spending 61 billion what alone run a Board Meeting but he reset the race are not allowed biden the economic equivalent of a treasury bond of our flight to safety the one thing i can put my money in i dont care if there is no return but it is right there. [laughter] the tbill . Joe biden. Got it. I actually make the argument that this is a minority opinion would much rather have joe biden than Bernie Sanders going up against corrupt and confused than authentic and free stuff i dont want to validate and innovate on elevate this and assist marxist i ideology you would go to get someone have socialist and completely and totally corrupt the most corrupt Vice President in history some people agree some people disagree but definitely a target audience idea with senator sanders has much more appeal they are joe biden. But you can see what is happening in the establishment and the fact President Trump could be 16 republicans and the bush dynasty and all the attempts to destabilize him. So from the midwest i had my understandable doubts he would deliver from the conservative agenda. I spoke at the convention i put everything on the line its not even a conversation but from that moment spent with eric ciampa donald trump junior it took a lot of courage for you to have that. Would you start to see the fact he won the primary was remarkable then the general was even more incredible the media ridicules me and i will say it again i believe it truly was a godsend that President Trump was elected president. [cheers and applause] i really do. I believe nothing short of divine intervention that allowed america to have a second chance. He gets elected and inaugurated 70 minutes later they say the case for impeaching donald trump now begins. Seriously. This is so important. He is very easily could have become a vanilla republican to get them off of his back the Mueller Investigation was a hoax i hope you all understand this it was a warning shot that said stop it mr. Troubles we will come after you. Dont move the embassy dont cancel the iran deal and we will put all your friends in prison maybe we will not investigate your son for a couple years. Think got them over exaggerating im from chicago i know the way chicago politics works thats how they run washington dc. President trump with heroism encourage said i will not be bullied into doing whats not best for the American People. Very easily he could have done what other past republican president s refuse to do which is not move the embassy to jerusalem or recognize go gall one gauvin heights and it all came to a big head which was something and then writing the entire chapter on this the Justice Kavanaugh fight he very easily could uphold the nomination and in said to push back against them when they are disoriented and there is a lot of truth to that you saw that with the Justice Kavanaugh fight. Especially where you have fabricated accusations in a man who had a Sterling Record the most boring person the guy literally had his journals from high school and calendars. It was unbelievable thats impressive that should be 100 zero vote he still had his journals and calendars from high school. I was at carls house. Really amazing. [laughter] you deserve to be on the Supreme Court for that and nothing else. [laughter] [applause] and then senator harris and jeff flake who was part of the problem i wrote the book in response to him i do name some names but he was pathologically opposed to trumpeted the writing to vote for kavanaugh but gave him such a hard time into the highest level we have a circus and President Trump did not waver 1 inch. He understands what the left is trying to do. Hes been fighting them in different forms his entire life. But when President Trump tried to build trump tower with the most corrupt bureaucrats that is the left when he tried to build of what was delayed that was the left its a playbook its like he is one of the few people outside of politics that has a track record to beat these tactics and sometimes it takes a street fighter to go after them so he wins the election and is inaugurated and then does something that confused everybody. He did what he said he was going to do where the as would come into his office and say the decision is coming up whether or not we want to renew nafta it is a strange decisionmaking process what did i say i was going to do and thats what im going to do. We are not used to this because both parties have never operated like this. Renegotiating nafta the usmca is one of the most legislative trade accomplishments putting china on defense getting a really good trade deal. And then an ea even better trade deal but the Washington Cartel was perfectly fine to get limits limit rich at our expense with the only politician with the guts to call them out so just that judicial victory alone but it is also his indifference to care about what people before him did. The fight for the life in the fight for the unborn i really do. [applause] you look at President Trump and 20 years ago if you would told me a guy that on the cover of Playboy Magazine , prior democrat would be the most prolife president in American History what are you talking about . Yet he comes in every decision with an open mind rationally and analytically says what is the evidence before me this is how he became prolife a woman was contemplating an abortion and then rose into a superstar that person would not exist if not for that abortion the first president in American History to speak at the march for life. Thats amazing. [applause] and again they did not speak at the march for life planned parenthood funding went up steadily with the open peoples eyes is not the socially conservative individual and we have some questionable justices on the Supreme Court but President Trump did a bizarre thing i will tell you the list of people i will nominate and he actually picked from that list. A lot of people voted for President Trump based on that list because thats a third branch of government. Then foreignpolicy because there is a big each one dash bigotry of binary choices apply it to your own life no matter what the situation option a we will be triggerhappy and invade a lot of Different Countries to nation build and impose our values and it sounded good 20 years ago and we really believed we could bring to the middle east it is a consensus we will not turn libya into louisiana. And send more of the most prized possessions into this region spending hundreds of billions of dollars to democratize a region that is not ready for it and he upended that immediately. I like that the neoconservative doctrine. It is the exact opposite and equally as bad we will pick the worst regime send billions of dollars of cash in the middle of the night bow down and validate and send them well wishes toward a nuclear weapon. Thats the other side. So here is what we will do targeted strikes against americas enemies with disproportionate deterrent response number two not the endless bridge building war industry in afghanistan and in the region to put her most prized possession with ptsd issues, veteran suicid suicide, assimilation issue issues, enough. We are here to win wars we owe it to our veterans then to put them in a multi decade conflict with no and insight what is President Trump do . I will end the endless wars but if Qassem Soleimani goes after american citizens i will go after you with a drone strike. Aku bakr albaghdadi. Dead. [applause] liberating the generals on the ground isys was on the line when he took office and that was the greatest accomplishment but he did it minimal loss to American Life to liberate the generals to go after americas enemies on the run ending the war in afghanistan we will see how that brokers out but we all agree fatigues the american spirit for a country that does not accept western values with 5 billion a year with hundreds of thousands of kids in inner cities that cant read our priorities are backwards and President Trump recognizes that. [applause] so i wrote this with a sense of urgency because i dont know if he will be elected he should win on a landslide but one thing i want all of you to dismiss from your vocabulary he will not win in a landslide. It will not be easy and i hear this everywhere i go. It is closer than you think ive been to 44 states in the last year talking to a lot of people on the ground there is a Misinformation Campaign against this president a lot of work left to do i go to party after party and i say okay president Hillary Clinton humble yourself and lets get to work because this is not over if google wants him to lose he will lose. Voter fraud what goes on in this state alone is a blueprint for the rest of the country and by the way the mischief that goes on here they teach them in milwaukee how to do that and the battleground state not to mention that the media is against him and i really believe the democrats will try to encourage and coach bad plans to unseat donald trump bill marr said as much he is hoping for a recession i that he should win in a 1972 nixon style reagan style landslide. He should but it will not happen. Whether he will win electorally in a majority way i know. That remains to be seen but they will not be taken by surprise this time. They will not. Bloomberg will spend whatever it will spend so i want to see an animated and engaged and worried conservative base not confident you have to be quietly certain what trump has done you should be worried because they are working their tails off. I see it every single day thats a sense of urgency i hope youll leave with because one year from today he could not be president i want you to realize that. It is conceivable i give it a 5050 split right now you could be here gathering and it could be joe biden people are laughing but it could happen. Thats why we need to offer that sense of urgency im honored to be here thank you so much. Thank you charlie we do have questions. Good afternoon. We dont have a lot of exposure or experience in politics so how do you suggest we cant maintain an educated politics . Thank you for the question if you do pursue a career in service you deserve to be commended. Thank you for being here today. [applause] there is tremendous resources out there. Prager is a Great Research on resource and what i think is very helpful but be hungry and read the other side. It is true in high school it isnt always taught the way we might want it to be taught but i would encourage you to take five minutes a day to carve out politics whether reading the news, the right form of news. [laughter] but just be curious and openminded and patriotism should inform your politics. Never forget that. [applause] one question that i have on College Campuses they used to have debate. What are you seeing right now . This is my day job i wrote this as a singular project that we have a machine 2000 and campuses across the country, we are working very hard. Of the only conservative to speak at uc berkeley and live to tell about it. [applause] i spoke all across the country to be perfectly honest the greatest threat whats happening in College Campuses it is less about reform and more about rebellion to be honest they are multibilliondollar cartels that dont care about the students going through their halls and are not interested for those american values. So for those High Schoolers out there ask yourself the question why am i going to school not where. You dont need to go to for your college to succeed. We need more plumbers and Police Officers firefighters and veterans and entrepreneurs. Those that go to the elite schools that prognosticate tell us how horrible america is is a massive multibilliondollar window for those that are trained in the skills for trained labor. Parents far too often push their kids into college. Giving use of hard truth many times its about the parents ego not the kids future if you are not prepared to look them in the eye and say my kid is not going to college and perfectly okay and thats more about your ego they had their future i say that with love and compassion because you see university of Southern California what world is it okay to fabricate your kid is not in the Athletic Competition those of the parents doing that. A milliondollar industry where parents were fabricating records to do immoral and illegal things to go to their kids to go to usc. I dont want to insult anyone but to say my kid is an honor roll student i would be embarrassed like my kid is a good person. [laughter] it doesnt resonate with me it is that hyper like climbing the ladder to be the highest level i care more about your character and work ethic than what degree you got. [applause] thank you for being here i feel that you are an ambassador for common sense. And probably biblical philosophy and congratulations on your book. As a Small Businessman i think one of the biggest shams that we face especially in california there are all these great ideas but they come with the cost to businesses and the general public actually its considered immoral the concealed so speak about that what it does to the economy and the businessman. Entrepreneurs and Small Business are the backbone of the american economy. We should be pro Family Business in california is the perfect text case one test case with the so to see people for more regulation they could afford more lawyers and lobbyist and compliance but is the small guy that puts them out of business in fact it protects the incumbents more than anything else. The President Trump has done so well is a rapid increase of startups across the country and that is bottomup enterprise model that we need to get back to in a country not just the protection of the corporate status quo. There is a huge problem because huge Business People cannot find what they need but i talk to Small Business people all the time people want to work for me but they dont have the skills because they have a degree so they borrowed money they dont have to study things that dont matter for jobs that dont exist. There is a huge market out there right now i dont know what industry you are in the particular but there is a huge market for applicable jobs. And that manufacturing would be dead President Trump proved empirically there was a multibilliondollar manufacturing opening in our country and filled it and filled it very well we have seen a huge increase in manufacturing jobs since President Trump took office. The final point going back to the college argument going back for everyone to take this to heart that we treat people that go to college far more intelligent and wise and those that didnt in the immediate propaganda they do that through public approval polling that Approval Rating and non collegeeducated so they are saying this is what the smart people think if you give me 100 people that did not go to college and those that did that are humble and wise from those that did just anti the Current System not anti college if you want to be a doctor or an engineer it is for you it should be career preparation not the ideological exploration but if you send them to college he will play russian roulette with their values and they will come back unrecognizable. Im a new member of the pat nixon republican women. I have the great pleasure to meet the Republican National assembly of california it is so amazing to hear the story i know hes traveling to gain the latino vote to gain the confidence of the Republican Party and also the africanamerican vote for what you have seen on the campuses so that is exciting to be on the skilled trade. Thank you so thats the question if you will be on campuses and how do we get that vote. It is important for virginia was a deep red state so they had out of control immigration policies and thats a problem. I will say california, you saw that turn in the wrong direction so i do think that the latino vote can be one over the life issue. Very prolife community which is unfortunate and to see something happening in the black community and turning point thats how it got its start. [applause] which we are very proud of. We really believe there is the ideological revolution happening in our country President Trump should be a champion for school choice. That is one of the most important issues in the entire country those that could get trump reelected. And the black community has been so horribly treated by the Democratic Party especially since lyndon johnson. Telling the story and encouraging those policies and i talk about this in the book criminal Justice Reform millions of people on the community far more than president obama ever did we get very little credit from the media but also reaching out and showing up that they are more open to it than ever before but that is part of the teethree doctrine giving dignity back to forgotten america. That is cast aside by the ruling class elite. So i am cautiously optimistic those change will have to be generational. It is a black community republicans went after the black surgeon those communities. Can you reassure us all that you have political aspirations . [laughter] very kind of you. No. [laughter] i love what i do at turning point usa i can spend time with people who are running for election that is great for a lot of people i can help them run for office. I guess so much fulfillment with what we are doing at turning point usa. We have seen so much people say youve got to run for congress. No. Thats not in the cards for me the winning the culture battle is far more important. [applause] we see a great opportunity happening with a lot of people rising up but i am perfectly happy exactly where i am. I just want to introduce myself because if you listen to the media they will tell you people like myself dont exist that i am a christian and conservative College Professor at uci. [applause] and my question for you is to figure out how to prevent school shootings. Do you have any suggestions . I have my own ideas and would love to talk to about them but i am curious. The whole discussion comes down if you are a School Shooter would you go to a school that had armed guards or not . The whole argument the prize possession we guard sporting events and banks and machine guns but we dont protect our kids that way our most precious item it is much deeper if you look at the parkland shooting there was a misdiagnosis in a failure of investigation to investigate. The agenda we cannot let that happen. And prevent the left from coming after constitutional liberties but we have a medication proble problem, we have the pharmaceutical companies have too much power and overmedicating our kids. [applause] chemically addictive substances that are playing games with a lot of these kids. Be very careful if i was in school today they would have me so drugged up. Seriously. They tried to give me everything because a little type a and pushing the boundaries. [laughter] my parents to their great credit said he is fine. But i worry how many people that could change our country are fed the cocktail of drugs. Hes eight years old. What do you expect. Seriously and i do think they are correlated to school shootings. I get a lot of garbage for that but i dont care. But its true and its a family issue we have destroyed the Nuclear Family in our country and we have to rebuild the american family. [applause] we get quite a few authors that come through here but what is interesting to me give us the background. Yes and then i will sign books after to get your Christmas Shopping done go to amazon get it done and you can help us to be greatly appreciated. Thank you to stay see who should help us out tonight and my girlfriend erica. And all the people that support turning point. Thank you. Socialism kelso do something about it. To cover this book that sums up the doctrine as a trial and then to embody that so will that is the protective instinct that every decision is to say i care about this and to sacrifice for this a picture speaks a thousand words. Charlie kirk. Thank you. [applause] both festivals now have been canceled due to the coronavirus on virus. What l. A. Times festival of books set for april has been rescheduled for october. To watch any previous festival coverage click the tab on our website. Representing the six district in ohio what are you reading . That is too big to say im in the process of five different books pretty much i finished one of them the latest by ron sure now and you talk about what informs my work here in congress it is vitally important to understand our nations history
